Highlights from day 3 of the Misery Gauntlet include some big RIPs from the top of the ladder, bounty updates and community moments. If you've been following along with the Misery Gauntlet hosted by Zizaran and sponsored by Maxroll (among others) then you'll recognize some of the highlights.

Here's a look at the Misery Gauntlet day 3 Ladder and bounty standing (broken down by class & overall). There have been some upsets in the top rankings and quite a few deaths as players head into more dangerous content. Here's the standing taken from PoERacing.

Day 3 has been pretty quiet as most people are gearing up for the boss push. A lot of the racers are stabilizing around level 95 and farming Uniques, fixing problems or fishing for a level 21 main skill. This is the calm before the storm because once people start bossing the RIP clips will roll in.
Notable Bounties
Here are a few of the confirmed bounties players claimed during day 3 of the Misery Gauntlet. So far 3 of Maxroll's own bounties have been claimed!
- First to die at Experience Ladder Rank 1 as a Level 98 or higher character.
- $750 claimed by Havoc6
- Currently Rektify1 is in the lead with a Ventor's Gamble worth 186 points;
- 15% Increased Item Rarity of Items Found (Implicit)
- +16 Life
- 10% Increases Quantity of Items Found
- 35% Increased Rarity of Items Found
- +32% to Fire Resistance
- +48% to Cold Resistance
- +30% to Lightning Resistance
If you have a better Ventor's or feel like gambling with your Gauntlet Divine Orbs there's still plenty of time to claim this bounty and the associated $500.
Ben's Defiance of Destiny
Ben continues his main character arc, obtaining Defiance of Destiny in the Gauntlet. This amulet provides one of the most powerful defensive layers in the game because it functions as a cheat death mechanic, preventing a hit from killing you with a burst of life. If you're looking to survive Gauntlet-juiced uber bosses this is a great item to have!
RIP Clips
During day 3 of the Misery Gauntlet we've seen some big RIPs including from the very top of the leaderboards. Right now we're in the calm before the storm as players gear up so there haven't been quite as many RIPs today but over the next couple days there are going to be some spicy ones as players attempt bosses and Ubers.
- Havoc is a Path of Exile legend featuring in both of the ExileCon races. He's had a strong showing in the Gauntlet reaching level 98 and climbing to rank 1 on the ladder by defeating every challenge on his Boneshatter of Complex Trauma Juggernaut. He then did a victory lap by taking off all of his equipment then heading over to the game's most lethal challenge, act 1 goatmen!
- Havoc6 (Rank 1 RIP)
- This was very much an intentional death to claim the $750 bounty for dying at rank 1.
- KoStABanana had one goal, to survive or at the least not die. This was going well until he encountered a Vivid Empowered monstrosity within the Vridian Wildwood. Gorilla type monsters have a slam which deals extremely high levels of physical damage so the results were explosive.
- It takes a lot of guts to play a Berserker in the Gauntlet and that's exactly what Lonnie455Rich did. He was making good progress and got all the way to the Crystal Ore map. With Sunder and Leap Slam the progress was going well. Until the encounter with screamer bats known for their extremely high damage and the ability to inflict Shock on your character, resulting in a serious case of instant death.
Maxroll in the Gauntlet
Several members of Maxroll have been participating in the Misery Gauntlet and testing their mettle during day 3.
- SpicySushi is best known for his Settler shop but he stepped a bit out of his comfort zone and into the brutal Gauntlet environment. With the damage from Gauntlet modifiers stuns have been a consistent source of deaths. Once you get hit, it's easy for things to spiral out of control especially when projectiles are involved because they frequently have AoE components leading to overlap.
Bosses Dropping Soon
Day 3 of the Misery Gauntlet has been a bit quiet. Ben's Defiance of Destiny drop came out of the blue and will give him a significant advantage when taking on the boss challenges. Havoc accomplished his goal and then went out in style after reaching level 98 and climbing to rank 1 on the ladder. Last up the ranks have been culled yet again but several strong contenders like Carn and Ben are still in the running to collect the additional points from defeating endgame bosses.
This gauntlet has been extremely popular and a lot of people who normally don't play Hardcore or participate in races have stepped out of their comfort zone to take on the challenge. As a result of the higher participation we've seen an absolute bloodbath but it's all good fun and a great learning experience!
