Introduction

Kirac

Kirac, Vanguard Commander is a Path of Exile's master cartographer since the Siege of the Atlas expansion in 3.17. He is a cornerstone of Path of Exile endgame, guiding the player during his journey in the Atlas of Worlds through various questlines.

Zana and Lore

Sirus is dead. Zana has chosen exile; But the Atlas of Worlds remains a beacon for Eldritch horrors. We imprisoned the Elder. We placated the Maven. We've been preparing for the arrival of another... But we never expected four! They embody insatiable hunger, crushing darkness, searing flame, merciless wrath... If we don't stop them, they will consume everything... This is a war for our very existence!

Zana

Zana, Master Cartographer used to be in Commander Kirac's place. She is a foundation to the Atlas of Worlds progression and a centerpiece in the story behind both Elder & Shaper and Elderslayers questlines. With the Siege of the Atlas expansion and the death of Sirus, Zana is retiring without any further explanation (for now) and replaced by Kirac, Vanguard Commander, who was already fighting by her side during the Elderslayers questline. Exiles can still see her during the old endgame boss fights, which are still accessible.

Map Modifiers

Map Device Modifiers

One main perk of Kirac is gaining access to various Map Device modifiers. By default he gives you up to 8% Quantity of Items found, but for a specific Chaos Orb amount, he can add special league mechanics modifiers to your maps.

These league modifiers and the base quantity modifier are unlocked and scaled depending on how many Atlas Objectives you've completed in the Atlas of Worlds. The modifiers available rotate every league.

Fortune favours the Brave is always available and applies any league modifier available during the patch at random, including those you have not yet unlocked.

There are also special Map Device Modifiers you can access through special content.

Kirac Atlas Missions

Kirac lets the Exile choose from a selection of maps with various objectives. When you have a Kirac mission, you need to click on Kirac's icon on the Map Device and choose a Map. White, Yellow and Red Maps all have a different array of Maps you can choose from with increasing rewards. Red Maps granting more lucrative missions on average as well as unlocking some new ones.

Maps can be from any rarity (including Unique) and can be corrupted. Once you have chosen a map, he opens 6 portals for you. At the high end, you can even get access to Elder & Shaper Guardians or Conquerors maps. Rarely you can get Blighted Maps or the Unique Untainted Paradise map. It is the only way to access this map, whose main purpose is to farm experience. Here is a list of the objectives you may find:

Mission Objectives

Unfortunately, Atlas Passives do not apply to maps opened by Kirac. Additionally, every time you start a Kirac mission, his inventory is reset, giving you access to new goods.

Kirac's Inventory

Kirac can sell you maps and some specific map-related Currencies or Divination Cards. His inventory resets everytime you reach a new Atlas Objective threshold (the ones unlocking map device modifiers) or everytime you start a Kirac's mission. Don't forget to check his inventory all the time, especially early in the league when progressing through the Atlas since he can sell you a lot of maps you haven't completed yet.

But even at the high end, Kirac can sell maps with special implicits, guardian and conqueror maps or unique maps at a very low price! Maps with special implicits can be very powerful to double down on some farming strategies (like Additional Legion / Breaches implicits), but most of the implicits are generally not worth their price compared to using a single Scarab.

By default, Kirac also has an infinite supply of Cartographer's Chisel and Orb of Unmaking. Orb of Unmaking cost 2 Orb of Regret and this keeps their price stable relative to Chaos Orbs, which allows players to swap things around in their Atlas Passive Tree with ease.

Chisels are 8 Chaos Orbs for a stack of 20, which is absolutely not worth it considering their drop rate.

Kirac Scouting Reports

During your Atlas journey, you may find a new kind of currency: Scouting Reports. Scouting Reports are used to reroll all of Kirac's map selections. There are various types of Scouting Reports :

  • Explorer's Scouting Report - Reroll all of Kirac's Atlas Missions, using uncompleted Maps where possible.
  • Influenced Scouting Report - Reroll all of Kirac's Atlas Missions, including at least one Shaper Guardian Elder Guardian, or Elderslayer Map.
  • Singular Scouting Report - Reroll all of Kirac's Atlas Missions, including at least one Unique Map.
  • Vaal Scouting Report - Reroll all of Kirac's Atlas Missions, corrupting all non-Unique Maps.

There are also special types of Scouting Reports you can only loot if oyu have a specific Atlas Passive allocated:

  • Operative's Scouting Report - Reroll all of Kirac's Atlas Missions, granting missions with rewarding implicit modifiers. Requires the Solidarity Notable to drop.
  • Comprehensive Scouting Report - Reroll all of Kirac's Atlas Missions, adding additional Mission options that can include new outcomes. Requires the Planar Tactician Notable to drop.
  • Blighted Scouting Report - Reroll all of Kirac's Atlas Missions, including at least one Anointed Blighted Map. Requires the Expect the Unexpected Notable to drop.
  • Delirious Scouting Report - Reroll all of Kirac's Atlas Missions, adding layers of Delirium to all non-Unique Maps. Requires the Expect the Unexpected Notable to drop.
