Patch 1.1

Last Updated:July 9, 2024|Change Log

The Harbingers are a series of bosses that must be killed in order to progress The Forgotten Knight Faction and eventually fight Aberroth. Each Timeline has one Harbinger. Harbinger of Destruction is the Harbinger for the Reign of Dragons Timeline. He follows the Tank archetype, which gives him access to the skills of that archetype. He also gains some unique skills from Emperor of Corpses, the boss of this Timeline.

In this guide, we cover the rewards, boss mechanics, and provide a strategy for defeating this boss.

For more information on the Harbingers check out our Forgotten Knight Faction Guide.

For more information on the Timeline this boss is found in check out our Reign of Dragons Timeline Guide.

Harbinger of Destruction
Harbinger - Tank Archetype

Rewards

Each Harbinger can drop its own Unique as well as Forgotten Knight Faction rewards.

  • Event Horizon
  • Harbinger Eye: Used to summon the Pinnacle Boss Aberroth.
  • Harbinger's Needle: When equipped in an Idol slot, this item will allow Empowered Timeline Boss kills to give 3 additional Gaze of Orobyss, significantly speeding up Corruption gains. The item is destroyed when the Timeline Boss is killed.

Boss Mechanics

Each Harbinger has a set of skills according to their archetype (agile or tank) as well as a few skills from the boss of the Timeline Boss.

Archetype - Tank

Slams the ground in a small area, with an aftershock going outward from the Harbinger. Deals moderate Physical damage.

Timeline Boss - Emperor of Corpses

Blood Pools from Emperor of Corpses become Spirit Pools, dealing a percentage of remaining health as damage each second. This persists throughout the fight.

Modifiers

When you go into a timeline boss fight, you carry any modifiers that are active from running echoes. Some of these modifiers can be especially dangerous, while some can actually bring value with little or no downside.

Boss Strategy

This is one of the more challenging Harbinger fights, largely due to the Timeline boss mechanics.

  • Avoid standing in the center of the Echo Slam, where you can be hit by multiple slams
  • Unless you're very tanky, avoid his other slams, as they do considerable damage, especially at high corruption. This includes the final Strike from Void Combo Strike.
  • Void Orbs and Void Turrets are easily avoidable. Stay clear of them to prevent unnecessary damage.
  • Stay away from the edges of the battlefield to avoid the Spirit Pools. These can't kill you outright, but they quickly remove large chunks of health that make you vulnerable to other sources of damage.
  • Take out the undead quickly when they are raise to avoid becoming overwhelmed from multiple sources of damage.
  • Avoid Spirit Breath at all costs. The telegraph on this attack is much less obvious than it is on Emperor of Corpses. Avoid it by staying away from the Harbinger's front side.

Summary

  • Harbingers are bosses that are required for progression with the Forgotten Knights Faction.
  • Harbinger of Destruction follows the Tank archetype.
  • He also gains skills based on Emperor of Corpses
  • The Unique reward for killing this boss is Event Horizon
