Navigator Strand Titan Build
Last Updated:July 3, 2024|Changelog
Welcome to the Navigator Strand Titan Build Guide for PvE! Are you looking for a "nuke everything you see" playstyle for Titan? Well, this is it! The Navigator Strand Titan is relatively easy to grasp and execute, and is one of the best endgame builds to take into raids, dungeons and even lost sectors.
Become a master of survivability and excel in close-quarters, focused target, or even swarm damage. Launch yourself at enemies with Frenzied Blade, activate Banner of War for a ramping melee damage bonus, zip around with Grapple, or transform yourself into a high-resilience, high-damage super and Suspend your foes with its heavy attack! Utilize The Navigator to set yourself up for big damage against single targets, as well as Wormgod Caress for a free damage bonus.
This is a very satisfying build that requires some awareness of cooldowns and ad spawns. The Grapple also takes some practice to master. It can be used in a variety of situations, especially for tackling endgame content, with or without teammates.
WARNING: You must own the Lightfall DLC, as well as the Lightfall Dungeon Pass to unlock Strand and The Navigator respectively.
- Non-stop healing
- High ability uptime
- Massive melee damage
- Gear dependant
- Requires ads to proc abilities
Gameplay Loop
The aim of the Navigator Strand Titan gameplay loop is to gain 4 stacks of Banner of War, while constantly refreshing the timer. The next step is to sever your target with The Navigator, and then activate Gordian Knot for a free Grapple Point before you focus a single target through the use of Grapple.
- Start off by using Frenzied Blade, onto a horde of enemies to grant yourself a Banner of War.
- Once you are out of Frenzied Blade charges, use your Grapple for a powered melee ability.
- Continue to clears ads with steps 1 and 2 until you have 4 stacks of Banner of War stacks.
- Use The Navigator to Sever a big target.
- Once the target is severed, use The Navigator's Catalyst to create a Gordian Knot.
- Position your reticle onto the newly-created Gordian Knot, activate your Grapple, and launch yourself into a powered melee, onto the severed target.
- Repeat this step until the Gordian Knot expires.
- Throw existing Tangles at enemies to recharge your melee ability.
Ability Breakdown
Super
- Bladefury
- As well as gaining a 90% damage reduction upon activating your Super, your Titan creates two woven blades that allow you to constantly slash targets as well as Suspend them. Your light attack allows you to sever targets on hit dealing 25% bonus damage to those affected by Suspend. Each hit briefly increases your attack speed and grants energy to your heavy attack. The heavy attack shoots out two projectiles that seek and suspend targets. It also refills all 3 melee ability charges when your Super ends.
Abilities
- Towering Barricade - Create a large barrier which reinforces a position, you gain a 20% damage reduction in cast animation. The Barrier lasts for 20 seconds and has 500hp.
- Catapult Lift - Jump while airborne to activate. Continuously hit the jump button to get a speed boost in the direction you are looking. Strafe Lift is also a good alternative.
- Frenzied Blade - Perform a forward dash, slashing toward enemies. This is the key component of this build. It deals 569 damage and applies Sever to targets.
- Grapple - Weave a grappling hook and quickly pull yourself forward. Grappling to a Tangle immediately recharges your grenade energy. During and shortly after grappling, your melee attack deals more damage and applies Unravel to targets.
Aspects
- Banner of War - Defeat a target with a melee attack, finisher, or sword to raise a banner of war. This periodically pulses, healing nearby allies and increases melee and sword damage. Targets defeated by you and nearby allies charge the banner, increasing the speed of its pulses, thus increasing the healing and damage output.
- Into the Fray - Destroying a Tangle or casting your Super grants Woven Mail to nearby allies. While you have Woven Mail, your melee regeneration rate is increased.
Keep an eye out on your Banner of War stacks - you have to kill an ad to refresh the timer.
Fragments
- Thread of Fury - Damaging targets with a Tangle grants melee energy. This is crucial for regaining your Frenzied Blade charges after using them to acquire Banner of War stacks.
- Thread of Ascent - Activating your grenade ability reloads your equipped weapon and grants bonus Airborne Effectiveness and Handling for a short duration. The Grapple is used often with this build, so this is a simple quality-of-life addition.
- Thread of Warding - Picking up an orb of power grants yourself Woven Mail. This gives the user damage resistance, which is crucial for close-quarter combat with Frenzied Blade.
- Thread of Generation - Dealing damage generates grenade energy. This is crucial for regenerating your Grapple ability.
Gearing
Required Gear
Kinetic Slot - The Navigator
- The Navigator's intrinsic perk Protective Weave allows you to fire this weapon at an Ally, granting Woven Mail to both yourself and the target. Its other perk - Weft Cutter - allows you to Sever targets with sustained damage. This is one of the key components to this Navigator Strand Titan build.
- One of the other main components is the catalyst, which allows you to create a Gordian Knot after a special reload, at a targeted point. This point can be used to continuously Grapple to, for continuous powered melees. This combination provides extremely high damage, for all types of content.
Gauntlet Slot - Wormgod Caress
- Defeating a target with melee or a finisher grants escalating melee damage, which decays over time. Higher levels of Burning Fists grant increased weapon damage. This is a passive damage bonus which compliments the Navigator Strand Build, as you use Frenzied Blade to clear ads.
How to acquire:
- Purchase from Xur (his loot rotates weekly).
- Decrypting exotic engrams at Rahool (it will be a random exotic drop, but will prioritize exotics you currently do not have, known as the knockout system).
- Farm the expert lost sector on arm Armor days.
- Note: this exotic is not locked behind a DLC.
Stat Priorities
- Resilience > Discipline > Recovery.
- Resilience is the amount of damage you can take before dying, as well as your shield capacity. This also governs the cooldown on the Titan's class ability.
- Discipline is what reduces your grenade cooldown. This is important for Grapple uptime, and being able to clears ads.
- Recovery governs the cooldown on the time it takes to regenerate your health and shields.
Tier 10 resilience is recommended by default for PvE content. High Discipline and High Strength is also recommended, preferably tier 8 and 7 respectively (at the minimum). Tier 10 Resilience grants a 30% Damage Resist.

Recommended Weapons
Energy Weapon: IKELOS_SG_v1.0.3 - With the perk One-Two Punch activated, you'll be able to land higher damage melees on targets, which also means easier kills. Considering it is a Rapid Frame, the pellets all land on target consistently.
Power Weapon: The Other Half - This sword allows for easier maneuverability with the perk Eager Edge. You can cross rooms to and from large hordes of enemies with speed, for quick recharging of Banner of War stacks, or for the sake of survivability.
Variants
- Swap IKELOS_SG_v1.0.3 for Xenoclast IV.
- If you do not have the Ikelos Shotgun, Xenoclast is the next best option. You are looking for a roll with One-Two Punch.
- How to acquire: Complete strikes and earn rank-up packages from Commander Zavala.
- Swap The Other Half for Apex Predator.
- If you are not confident with moving around with Eager Edge, feel free to switch to a DPS-oriented option, such as Apex Predator. With Bait and Switch, you can make easy work of majors, and even melt bosses.
- How to acquire: Last Wish Raid.
Summary
This Navigator Strand Titan build build excels at clearing small packs of enemies, maneuverability, and damage against multiple small targets, or one big target. The combination of armor mods, Fragments, and Aspects assists in refreshing your melee charges, allowing you to go use Frenzied Blade often, as well as extending the uptime of Banner of War. On top of this, Wormgod Caress is a free, passive bonus which directly compliments this build. Once you get the loop down, you become an unstoppable force who makes Commander Zavala proud!
