Pinnacle Bosses
Last Updated:November 28, 2024|Changelog
Path of Exile 2's Early Access builds upon and reintroduces multiple forms of content from it's predecessor Path of Exile. There are 7 different endgame content systems, all with a host of encounters, rewards and deadly Pinnacle challenges. This guide goes over what we know so far about how to challenge these powerful endgame activities.
Endgame Content
The Pinnacle Content is separated into 3 different categories (*unconfirmed);
- Atlas Specific Encounters
- Breach - Xesht: We That Are One
- Ritual - King in the Mists
- Expedition - Olroth; Undead Commander of the Knights of the Sun
- Delirium - Simulacrum (Omniphobia and Kosis*)
- Endgame Trials
- The Trial of the Sekhemas - Zarohk, The Eternal*
- The Trial of Chaos - Trialmaster*
- Pinnacle Boss of Path of Exile 2
- This Unknown Boss is stated to be the most difficult content that is accessible in the Path of Exile 2 Early Access.
- To gain access to the Fortress housing this Boss, explore surrounding regions of the Atlas to uncover enhance versions of act bosses, referred to as Uber Act Bosses.
- After defeating their 2 Lieutenants, the Uber Boss becomes accessible and after defeating it you are rewarded with a Key to the Fortress. Collect all 3 Keys to gain access to the Fortress and challenge the Pinnacle Boss.
- This Unknown Boss is stated to be the most difficult content that is accessible in the Path of Exile 2 Early Access.
All of the Pinnacle Content includes Progressions systems to scale them further into the Endgame after completing the Pinnacle Encounter. Learn more about that in our Endgame Activities Guide.
Atlas Content
Little is known about the Boss encounters themselves, but it is stated to be very difficult. Whilst "Difficulty" is an ambiguous term, this was intentional from GGG to not homogenize how they alter each encounter across all of the different mechanics. The Difficulty can reach Level 4 by allocating the small nodes present in the associated Atlas Passive Tree.
These are the differences known so far at different levels of difficulty;
- Difficulty 0 Pinnacle Bosses drop exclusive Unique Items
- Enhanced Boss Abilities
- Increased Rarity of Items
- Additional Stronger Unique Items
- Modular Unique Items at Difficulty Level 4. These items are stated to be similar in nature to Path of Exile uniques such as Watcher's Eye, Megalomaniac and Forbidden Flesh/Flame.
Breach
Xesht, We That Are One; is the Pinnacle Boss for the Breach Content. When defeating Breach Monsters or opening Clasped Hands, they have a chance to drop Breach Splinter(s). Combine 300 to form a Breachstone, this can then be placed into the Realmgate to travel to a Breach Domain where you have a limited amount of time to slay enemies and find a path to the final boss.
Expedition
Olroth; Undead Commander of the Knights of the Sun; is a Boss you can find when excavating Logbook Dig Sites. These Logbooks can drop from the Expedition encounters in your Waystones. Each Logbook requires you to place a massive sequence of Explosives to unearth monsters, rewards chests and additional underground secrets; one of which is the dwelling of Olroth, the Pinnacle Boss for the Expedition mechanic.
Delirium
Simulacrums pit you against increasingly difficult waves of enemies as well as powerful Delirium Bosses. The only boss we have seen so far is Omniphobia, Fear Manifest. To acquire a Simulacrum you must defeat monsters during the Delirium encounters in your Waypoints, each of these can drop Simulacrum Splinter(s). Combine 300 Simulacrum Splinters to create a Simulacrum which you can place into the Realmgate to be transported to the mysterious realm. 15 waves of enemies need to be defeated to complete the encounter, with loot being rewarded at the end of each wave. If you're feeling to overwhelmed by the onslaught of enemies you can leave at anytime.
Kosis, The Revelation will likely be making a reappearance from Path of Exile, but who knows what other terrifying manifestations they have in store at higher difficulty levels of the Simulacrum.
Ritual
The King in the Mist is the Pinnacle Boss encounter associated with the Ritual mechanic. A familiar face for Path of Exile players, but how exactly we encounter him and the nature of the fight is currently unknown.
It could be similar to it's predecessor in Path of Exile, with an itemised entrance to the encounter being available for Tribute in the Ritual pages you see during Waypoints.
The Trial of the Sekhemas
The Trials of the Sekhemas works much differently to it's Atlas counterparts in terms of progression. Instead of an Atlas Passive Tree it has Unique Relics and Jewels that drop from the final Pinnacle Boss of the encounter. From the Unique Relic showcased we can say with high certainty that Zarohk, The Eternal awaits you at the end of the Trial.
Here's what we know about the difficult and rewards;
- Pinnacle Boss drops exclusive Unique Items, specifically Unique Jewels.
- Unique Relics
- These are exclusive to the Trials of the Sekhemas and inflict an additional level of challenge to the Trial.
- The Last Flame Incense Relic sets your Honour to 1 meaning you cannot take a single hit for the entire duration of the Trial. If you're skilled enough to complete this challenge you earn Temporalis. We don't know anything about this Unique Item just yet but if the Path of Exile counterpart is anything to go off; this will be an extremely powerful and sought after item.
The Trial of Chaos
The Trial of Chaos is the sequel to the Path of Exile mechanic Ultimatum. The cunning Trialmaster pits you against 10 increasingly difficult challenges, if you're skilled enough to complete all the encounters, you face Bahlak The Sky Seer.
Bahlak drops essential keys to enter the Trialmaster's Tower. Collect 3 to enter the Tower and face the enemy that lies within. Whilst all indications lead to the this boss being the Trialmaster, Mark and Jonathan were very secretive about who awaits you.
Here's what we know about the difficult and rewards;
- Pinnacle Boss drops exclusive Unique Items
- Soul Cores.
- Soul Cores are alternatives to the Runes you can socket into your Weapons and Armour. They provide much stronger bonuses such as Critical Damage Bonus, Elemental Penetration and Increased Rarity of Items Found.
- Inscribed Ultimatums drop from the Final Boss and provide the chance for you to risk an amount of Currency whilst completing your trials, if you're successful, you'll get twice as much back.
Pinnacle Boss Content
The identity of Path of Exile 2s final boss is not currently known and will likely be a huge discovery for whichever skilled players can reach them during the Early Access. It is stated to be the most challenging content ever made for either of the Path of Exile titles. Still sane, Exile?
Lying within a Fortress, safeguarded by a gigantic maze, and locked behind 3 different keys you must find and recover, is the final Pinnacle Boss for Path of Exile 2. Explore surrounding regions of the Atlas to discover settlements, home to powerful Uber Act Bosses and they're Lieutenants. After defeating them you are rewarded with one of three necessary keys to gain access to the sealed Fortress.
These are the differences known so far at different levels of difficulty;
- Difficulty 0 Pinnacle Bosses drop exclusive Unique Items
- Enhanced Boss Abilities
- Increased Rarity of Items
- Additional Stronger Unique Items.
- Modular Unique Items at Difficulty Level 3. These items are stated to be similar in nature to Path of Exile uniques such as Watcher's Eye, Megalomaniac and Forbidden Flesh/Flame.
