Ambush

The Ambush farming strategy is a versatile late game farming method which yields Currency and Divination Cards. This guide demonstrates the best ways to farm Strongboxes in high tier maps along with variations you can use based on how much you want to invest.

The loot from the Strongboxes does not seem to scale with the Tier 17 specific modifiers for "More Currency". The mobs spawned from the boxes do however, and due to Secret Compartments combined with Ambush Scarab of Hidden Compartments this greatly increases the number of monsters you are spawning in your maps.

• Ambush Content - This strategy can be performed in Tier 16 or 17 maps, but if doing it in Tier 16 you should use the "Cheaper" variation of scarabs and the "Tier 16" Atlas Passive Tree.

Requirements

• This strategy requires a build capable of clearing at least 8 Mod Tier 16 maps with increased modifier effect from the Atlas Tree.

Set-Up

Map Choice

• Tier 17 - Any Tier 17 map is viable for this strategy, but for the best results you can optimize the strategy by doing the following maps due to the Uber Boss fragment biases present on each map;
  • Sanctuary Map - Devouring Fragment
  • Ziggurat Map - Devouring Fragment, Reality Fragment
  • Abomination Map - Reality Fragment

• For Tier 17 roll your Maps for either 100% more scarabs or 140% more currency for the best results, this can be done with the following regex;
  • "e sc.(\d{3})%|e cu.1[4-9].%|e cu.*[2-4]..%"
  • Quality the maps with Cartographer's Chisel
    • Maven's Chisel of Avarice can be used on very high currency maps 150%+
    • Maven's Chisel of Scarabs can be used on very high scarab maps 130%+

• Tier 16 - 8 Mod Jungle Valley Map or Mausoleum Map with a good card scried onto it.
  • You can alter your map choice if you want to target farm alternative Tier 17 Maps.

Map Device

• Eldritch Influence - Eater of Worlds. (Exarch is perfectly viable if your build prefers this.)
• Ambush - 5 Additional Strongboxes

Fragments

• Both options are very effective, however Ambush Scarab of Containment is a steep entry fee, in the long run it is more effective than the cheap version due to more Arcanist Strongboxes and Diviners Strongboxes rewarding chase items such as;
  • The Apothecary
  • Fire Of Unknown Origin
  • Unrequited Love
  • House of Mirrors
  • Hinekora's Lock
• These drops are still extremely rare and if you cannot run a large number of maps where you would expect one of these drops, use the Cheap Variation.

Eldritch Altar

Sell the following Eldritch crafting currencies. Selling these is easiest by listing them on the trade site in large quantities using bulk selling methods.

• Lesser Eldritch Ember / Lesser Eldritch Ichor
• Greater Eldritch Ember / Greater Eldritch Ichor
• Grand Eldritch Ember / Grand Eldritch Ichor

Sell rarer Eldritch crafting orbs at the end of farming sessions even in individual stack sizes on the trade site.

• Eldritch Chaos Orb
• Eldritch Exalted Orb
• Eldritch Orb of Annulment

Sell Eldritch invitations at the end of farming sessions using the trade site, use tabs listed with a bulk price if you have multiple.

• Incandescent Invitation
• Polaric Invitation
• Screaming Invitation
• Writhing Invitation

Ambush

The majority of your loot comes from the following sources;

• Divine Orb
• Valdo's Puzzle Box
• Divination Cards (The Apothecary, The Doctor, Fire Of Unknown Origin)
• Basic currency
• Uber Boss Fragments (Devouring Fragment, Reality Fragment, Awakening Fragment)
• Scarabs

Maps (Tier 16)

The Tier 16 tree puts more of an emphasis on Maps as you are able to drop Tier 17 maps which are extremely valuable.

• Abomination Map
