After the tutorial, the main quest has you place your Territory Terminal. You probably don't want to leave your base in the starter areas forever. This guide teaches you how to move your base in Once Human and provides recommendations of where to move your base.

To start relocating your base, hit B to enter build mode. You can enter build mode anywhere and don't need to be at the base to move it. Once in build mode press Z to enter Territory Relocation mode. When in this mode you see a replica of your base and the white outline is your base's area. The red outlines are other peoples territories. Now look around with your mouse until you find the right spot for your base and the outline turns green. Use the scroll wheel to rotate your base and scroll wheel + alt lets you adjust the height of your base.

Be aware that if you are trying to place it near other bases it snaps to them to a grid. If you don't want it to snap to other territories then you can press "O" to turn precision movement on and off.

Base Expansions

You can expand your base's area. Although, when snapped to another person's territory you are not able to expand. So don't move your base to close to a road, a stronghold, or another persons base. Alternatively, when you are ready to expand you can relocate your base and then move it back after expanding. Be aware, there is a 10 minute cooldown after you move your base so be quick to not lose your spot.

The Territorial Expansion memetic and other building memetics are under the building tab in the memetics menu. To find these, access the memetics screen holding tab and hovering the cradle or by hitting O, then click memetics on the left. You should grab the memetic as soon as possible to expand your base before getting surrounded by other players territories.

What About Your Stuff?

When you move your base everything inside stays the same. Loot remains inside chests, all benches are there, and all decorations. Just be sure to place it at the right height so nothing ends up underground. If something does end up underground then wait the 10 min cooldown and replace it with its height raised. Scroll wheel + alt lets you adjust the height of your base.

Picking a Base Location

You could move next to your friends or hive members to share materials. Alternatively, you can place your bases apart from each other to have more access to different materials across Nalcott. In previous betas you were able to teleport to Hive members bases as well as your own, but teleporting to their bases shared the same cooldown as your base. Read through this guide to learn more about "How to Team Up in Once Human".

Selecting a World

Every server is split up into worlds to give more room for players territories. If an area is too crowded, then you can swap worlds and see if there is room on another one. To swap worlds head to any teleporter and press G to open the world selection menu. Everything is the same on different worlds except player bases. Resources spawn in the same locations but are collect per world, so you can farm them on one world and swap to another to farm them again. Same goes for Deviations found in the wild. You can also move your base between worlds at any time.

Resources

You need a lot of resources to craft gear, build facilities, and make ammo. So when you need to gather metals, move your base into an open field covered in ores. Resources respawn quickly so you can do laps acquiring materials and if your base is right there then you don't have to worry about getting overweight or having to teleport back and forth constantly. Snagging a good spot early could make it much easier to gather the materials you need to farm Silos and Monoliths later.

Trading

Some people wanna shoot stuff, other people people wanna farm upgrades, and some people just wanna get rich! It is lucrative to become a trading hub on the server. With global chat and the ability to link coordinates to other players it is easy to tell people where your base is and what you are selling. But if your base isn't near a highly traveled area you don't get nearly as many customers. Placing your base just outside of an early settlement guarantees all players have a teleporter right next to your shop. Also, being near a settlement is nice when your base teleport is on cooldown because you can still go to a teleporter and teleport to the settlement.

Vending Machine

You can unlock Vending Machines in the memetic tree and trade items for energy or other items. You use energy to craft items, upgrade gear, enhance mods, and buy things from vendors and other players. The Vending Machine memetic is under the Logistics tab in the memetics menu.

Endgame

In the endgame you can use your base to farm oil, impure acid, and higher tier ores. Endgame and early game needs are different. In the early game you have low level tools and need a lot of resources to craft things for the first time. By the time you reach endgame you have stocked up on most of the basic resources, but rubber, acid, and rare materials from higher level zones tend to run low. The decision in endgame is to substitute the materials you aren't gathering throughout your daily activities.

How to Move Your Base Recap

To move your base, enter build mode by pressing B and relocate mode by pressing Z. Whether you are playing solo or with a team your base location is important so be sure to change it to accommodate you wants and needs. Moving your base makes it easier to collect resources or become the next trading outpost.
