Witch's Staff

Argent Skull
Black Coat

Witch's Staff

You begin with the Witch's Staff, Descura already unlocked. This is a great, beginner friendly weapon due to the combos being easy to use. Your Omega Moves unleash devastation across wide swathes. The Attack is a simple pattern striking enemies at close range. Descura's Omega Attack extends this to a line, capable of hitting enemies at considerable range. The Special is a high-speed projectile which bounces between foes, charge it to unleash the Omega Special which is an explosive orb.

Weapon Aspects

AspectCostEffect
Aspect of MelinoeN/AChannel your Omega Moves 10/15/20/25/30% faster.
Aspect of Circe5x Silver
5x Lotus
After landing 12 Attacks or Special or Omega Moves, gain Serenity for 5 seconds
with your next Omega Move.
During Serenity your Omega deal 40/60/80/100/120% more damage
and you rapidly restore Magick.
Aspect of Momus2x Lime
1x Pearl
Whenever you use your Omega Moves each fires in place up to 3 times
until you use it again. 3.5/3/2.5/2/1.5 second delay between Omega bursts.

The Aspect of Melinoe has high quality of life as channeling faster makes Omega Moves easier to execute. This is a great starting weapon if you want something that's easy to play. Aspect of Circe rewards you for striking aggressively with your regular moves to empower your next Omega move. This is a great Aspect for Omega-focused builds due to the Magick restoration from Serenity.

Finally, the Aspect of Momus supercharges your Omega moves by causing them to repeat on a delay. This is incredibly Magick efficient and allows you to weave between normal and Omega Moves. With a 1.5 second delay between bursts at rank 5, you need to use an Omega Move every 4.5 seconds to maximize your damage. This has a particularly interesting interaction with the Omega Cast, releasing pulses of damage every 1.5s without refreshing the snare.

Sister Blades

The Sister Blades, Lim and Oros cost 1 Silver to unlock. Unleash a flurry of blows with the Sister Blades, the Dash-Strike is especially useful as it positions you behind enemies. While the Attack is very close range, you can use the Sister Blades Special to strike foes from a distance. Positioning is key as your Special can strike enemies twice, once when you throw the blade and once when it returns. The Daggers' Omega Attack is a brutal slice, and the Omega Special is a flurry of daggers.

Weapon Aspects

AspectCostEffect
Aspect of MelinoeN/AYour Attacks and Specials deal 20/40/60/80/100% more damage
when striking foes from behind.
Aspect of Artemis5x Silver
1x Fate Fabric
While you channel your Omega Attack, you occasionally Parry,
then Riposte right after. 20/30/40/50/60% Faster Omega Attack.
Aspect of Pan1x Wool
2x Shaderot
Your Specials Seek foes in your Cast,
and you fire 1/2/3/4/5 more blades after you Channel.

Pro Tip: You need to unlock the correct Incantations to explore the surface, then defeat Polyphemus the Cyclops to obtain Wool.

Using Aspect of Melinoe requires careful positioning but offers a lot of damage against bosses. Being able to backstab off your Dash Strike allows you to get behind enemies reliably. Alternatively, you can use the Special's returning property to easily backstab foes from a distance. Aspect of Artemis on the other hand is a defensive Aspect allowing you to Parry abilities while keeping your damage uptime high due to a +50% Critical Strike bonus on Riposte. Keep an eye out for the glowing Parry icon near your health bar.

Then lastly Aspect of Pan turns the game into a bullet hell for your enemies! Your Omega Special releases a cloud of knives that seek enemies in your channel dealing massive damage.

Umbral Flames

Spend 3 Silver and 3 Cinders to unlock Ygnium, the Umbral Flames. This weapon is more difficult to use but has powerful aspects. The Attack is a flurry of projectiles, which transforms into large projectiles when charged for long enough to begin the Omega Attack. Meanwhile the Special is a series of projectiles which spiral out from your initial location. Charge this to unleash Ygnium's Omega Special, creating flames that whirl around Melinoe for several seconds.

Weapon Aspects

AspectUnlock CostEffect
Aspect of MelinoeN/AFlames from your Omega Special burn for 1/1.5/2/2.5 seconds longer before expiring.
Aspect of Moros2x Bronze
2x Tears
Your Attacks Linger for 6 Seconds and explode in a blast
if struck by your Specials. +0/15/30/45/60% blast damage.
Aspect of Eos2x Driftwood
2x Golden Apple
Your Omega Attack fires a Daybreaker that deals damage in an area around it
every 2 seconds. 100/113/125/138/150* Daybreaker blast Damage.
Daybreaker is a slow seeking shot which copies your Specials.

Pro Tip: You need to unlock the correct Incantations to explore the surface, then defeat Eris the second boss to obtain Golden Apples.

The Aspect of Melinoe enhances your Omega Special. As the flames last longer you can spend more time using other Moves while running through enemies to maximize your damage. On the other hand, the Aspects of Moros and Eos both enhance your Attack to boost single target damage. Aspect of Moros enables an Attack-Special combo playstyle, whereas Aspect of Eos is all about firing off Daybreakers for big explosions.

Both of these Hades 2 weapon Aspects take a bit of practice but reward you for holding your Attack to set up bursts of damage. Keep an eye out for the Daedalus upgrades which modify your Attack to further enhance its damage.

Moonstone Axe

Pay 15 Silver to unlock Zorephet, the Moonstone Axe. You combine wide (but slow) sweeping strikes with a rapid uppercut from the Special. Zorephet's Omega Attack is a good old spin to win. Unleash a rapid flurry of blows to slice your foes to ribbons! The Omega Special is a bit tricky to pull off due to the long charging time but it unleashes a linear AoE strike that deals significant damage.

Weapon Aspects

AspectCostEffect
Aspect of MelinoeN/AGain bonus Attack Power and Max Life this night. +10/15/20/25/30 Attack Power
& Max Life.
Aspect of Charon5x Pearl
1x Obol Points
Your Cast lasts +3 seconds, and erupts like your Omega Cast when struck
by your Omega Special. +10/15/20/25/30% Cleave-cast size and damage.
Aspect of Thanatos3x Glassrock
1x Dark
Your Attack is 10/15/20/25/30% faster, and each hit grants Mortality until
you take damage. Mortality provides +1% Critical chance stacking up to 13 times.

The Aspect of Melinoe has a smooth beginner friendly playstyle. You hit harder with your Attack and have more life to survive your mistakes. Aspect of Charon creates a one-two punch playstyle. You drop your cast, then detonate it with your Omega Special. Alternatively, you can use this aspect solely to extend the duration of a damaging cast from Demeter, Hestia, or Zeus.

Finally, Aspect of Thanatos rewards you for avoiding enemy attacks. You can stack the Critical Strike chance bonus with your Attack up to a 13% chance to deal massive Critical Damage on your Omega Moves. If you're using Aspect of Thanatos, having the Furious Whirlwind Daedalus upgrade lets you rapidly charge your Omega Attack and gives 60% movement speed while spinning to avoid enemy strikes. This is a high skill cap playstyle that is extremely rewarding.

Argent Skull

Collect 2 Glassrock and 1 Bronze to access the Argent Skull, Revaal. The biggest quirk of this weapon is the ammo system, you only get 3 Attacks before you need to collect your skulls to recharge. Your Special provides much needed mobility in the form of a charge making for a highly mobile hit-and-run playstyle. Charge the Attack to fire a single skull which explodes on impact. The Argent Skull's Omega Special is a devastating charge that provides full invulnerability for its duration. This is powerful, but don't take unnecessary damage during your channel!

Weapon Aspects

AspectCostEffect
Aspect of MelinoeN/AYour Attacks have more power for each Shell fired and not yet retrieved.
+5/10/15/20 Power per Spent Shell.
Aspect of Medea4x Iron
1x Nightshade
Your Attack stays within reach and explodes in a large area on impact
or after 3 seconds. +30/45/60/75/90% Attack and Special damage.
Aspect of Persephone5x Poppy
1x Moss
Your Cast and Omega Cast generates Glory when it hits, which enhances
your Omega Special. +10/15/20/25/30% Special Damage.
Glory makes your Omega Special last up to +2 seconds, firing continually
while you have control.

The Aspect of Melinoe rewards you for having more Shells and leaving them uncollected on the ground. Try to find the Daedalus upgrade Bolstered Array for +2 Shells. In general, you want to leave a couple of Shells on the ground when playing with this Aspect, then rapid fire the rest into foes for maximum damage. Aspect of Medea offers a close range explosive playstyle to clear hordes of enemies with the downside of a short delay.

The Aspect of Persephone focuses on you combing your Omega Cast and Omega Special. This can be difficult to control while continually charging. Try to corner enemies or use a Poseidon Boon to slam them into walls allowing you to get the maximum amount of damage from the continued charge.

Black Coat

Collect 2 Cinders and 2 Adamant to access the Xinth, the Black Coat. This weapon is part oversized fist, part rocket launcher, all awesome! The Attack is a punch that is paired with a dash, this makes it easy to land blows. Xinth's Special unleashes 2 rockets that fly towards a nearby enemy. Both of these moves can be empowered by channeling Magick into them to unleash the Omega form. The Omega Attack is a bigger charge-punch which has the ability to block enemy strikes during the charge. Meanwhile the Omega Special locks on to targets before quickly firing a barrage of rockets. It has a low channel type making it easy to use on the fly.

Weapon Aspects

AspectCostEffect
Aspect of MelinoeN/AYour Attacks, Sprint and Move Speed are +0/5/10/15/20% Faster.
Aspect of Selene4x Silver
4x M. Dust
You start with Skyfall a hidden Hex that hits multiple foes and applies Shine.
Hex Ready after 100/90/80/70/60 Magick.
Shine is a Curse that causes enemies to take +50% damage from
your Omega Moves.
Aspect of Nyx4x Plasma
1x Dark
You have Omega Boost on your Dash, charge up to deal 150 damage on impact.
This grants Nightspawn causing your Attack and Special to split in 2
(but deal reduced damage) for the next 5 seconds.

10/20/30/40/50% Nightspawn Damage

The Aspect of Melinoe gives you a nice speed boost. This makes it easy to abuse the mobility in Xinth's kit and use your Attack to dance around enemies while striking at them. You don't get any damage bonuses, making this Aspect reliant on the Boons you find within you run, but having the speed is well worth the trade-off.

Aspect of Selene on the other hand is built around using Skyfall to make enemies vulnerable then blasting them with Omega Moves. The Omega Attack hits harder and can block enemies when timed properly, whereas the Omega Special is much easier to execute. On the other hand Aspect of Nyx fully leans into the charge playstyle, by adding a new charge move to your Dash. Striking enemies with your Omega Boost empowers Melinoe allowing her Attacks and Specials to split adding more AoE when striking into groups of enemies.

Here are Tenkiei's thoughts on the various weapons in Hades 2 and their Aspects from when the Early Access was originally released (stay tuned for an updated version for 1.0).

Summary

There are 6 weapons in the Hades 2 early access, each of which has 3 aspects that change their properties and playstyle.

  • The Witch's Staff combines a series of close range strikes with ranged projectiles from the Special to make a well rounded weapon. While these Moves have good range they lack AoE which is where the Omega Attack and Special come in, providing a linear Attack and explosive projectile.
  • Your Sister Blades unleash a flurry of blows ending in a large slash. The Special is a single thrown dagger used to deal damage at a distance. The Omega Attack is a wide sweeping slash and the Special throws a fan of knives that overlap at close range.
  • Use the Umbral Flames to strike your foes from a distance. Your Attack releases projectiles that bounce off terrain whereas the Special creates projectiles that spiral out from your location. The Omega Attack launches a steady stream of projectiles, whereas the Special creates 2 orbiting projectiles that follow Melinoe.
  • Execute your enemies with the Moonstone Axe, its sweeping combos end in a heavy overhead chop and the Special is a swift uppercut. The Moonstone Axe has an awesome Omega Attack where you spin-to-win unleashing a flurry of blows for a short time.
  • Argent Skull, this is the only weapon with an ammo system. You begin with 3 Shells used to execute your Attack. Then, the Special is a charge which deals damage to the side when charged. The Omega Attack fires a shell at range which explodes dealing damage in a large area.
  • The Black Coat combines a punchy Attack that can block enemy strikes, with a ranged Special that fires rockets from a safe distance. This weapon is more difficult to play due to the limited duration of the shield from your Attack, but when executed well is incredibly satisfying!
