Welcome to the Omnioculus Void Hunter Build Guide! Sneak around and throw grenades to keep your team safe. This build allows you and your fireteam to be Invisible any time. It is a great build to survive solo content with and definitely has a place in fireteams to help keep everyone on their feet. Your fragments extend the duration of your Invisibility, and the gear mods help you regain all abilities almost instantly.
Omnioculus gives you an extra Snare Bomb, as well as ability regeneration and damage resistance. It's the focal point of this Void Hunter and completes the ultimate survivability build!
This build assumes you have bought all necessary fragments and aspects from Ikora Rey in the Tower, as well as have the exotic chest armor, Omnioculus.
- High ability uptime
- Perfect for solo content
- Multiple weapon options
- Easy overshields and invisibility
- Tether weakens and suppresses enemies
- Stat dependent
- Passive playstyle
- Low damage Super
Gameplay Loop
This build revolves around Invisibility. To start the loop, dive to the ground to activate Quickfall to begin your 9 seconds of Invisibility. When you dodge near an enemy, you receive another 9 seconds of invisibility and your melee is fully refunded. Dive to the ground again for another round of Invisibility. Utilize your Vortex Grenade on enemies to refund melee and dodge energy. Repeat this cycle. Activating Quickfall near allies gives them Invisibility. Being invisible with this exotic equipped gives you and your team a 25% damage resistance. Omnioculus enhances a Void Hunter’s already superb toolkit.
Ability Breakdown
Super
- Shadowshot: Moebius Quiver
- This Super tethers all enemies within 12.5 meters. While tethered, enemies are Weakened, Suppressed, and the tether pulls enemies into the center of the vortex. This Super makes combatants Volatile, and deals increased damage to them. Defeating tethered combatants creates orbs of power.
Abilities
- Gambler's Dodge - this dodge immediately refunds your Snare Bomb.
- Triple Jump - Triple jump is nice, but use whichever jump feels best to you.
- Snare Bomb - Can attach to surfaces and ping the enemy's radar. The bomb Weakens enemies when it detonates. Duration is 5 seconds. Also applies damage over time that increases in strength the longer combatants remain in the smoke.
- Vortex Grenade - This grenade pulls targets inward and continually damages enemies trapped within the vortex.
Casting an ability or shooting a weapon breaks invisibility!
Aspects
- Trapper's Ambush - Consumes your Snare Bomb to give you and nearby allies Invisibility, as well as makes nearby enemies Weakened.
- Vanishing Step - dodge to go Invisible.
Both of these aspects offer as-needed invisibility - Vanishing Step is a dodge, and Trappers Ambush is a Quickfall dive (the in-game subclass menu tells you which button you have these bound on).
Fragments
- Echo of Obscurity - Finisher final blows grant Invisibility.
- Echo of Harvest - Defeat Weakened targets to create orbs of power and a Void Breach. Picking up orbs grant you Super energy, and Void Breaches grant you dodge energy.
- Echo of Starvation - picking up an orb of power or a Void Breach grants you Devour. With Devour, final blows restore health, grant grenade energy, and extend the duration of Devour.
- Echo of Persistence - any Void buffs applied to you have an extended duration. This extends the duration of Devour and Void overshields by 50% and the duration of Invisibility by 40%.
Gearing
Required Gear and Weapons
Omnioculus - This exotic gives an extra charge for Snare Bomb, half of a Snare Bomb charge when you make an ally Invisibility (full refund when you make 2 or more allies invisible), and 50% damage resistance for you and your allies while Invisible. Omnioculus on Void Hunter is a simple way to amplify abilities and powers.
How to acquire:
- Purchase from Xur (his loot rotates weekly).
- Decrypting exotic engrams at Rahool (you get a random exotic drop, but this prioritizes exotics you currently do not have, known as the knockout system).
- Farm the expert lost sector on Chest Armor days.
- Complete the Vex Strike Force Public Event on Neomuna.
- Note: this exotic is not locked behind a DLC.
Stat Priorities
- Resilience, then Mobility, and then Discipline.
- Resilience is the amount of damage you can take before dying, as well as your shield capacity.
- Mobility is what reduces your dodge cooldown.
- Discipline reduces your grenade cooldown.
Armor Mods
- Helmet
- Void Siphon - Rapid final blows with Void weapons create orbs of power.
- Heavy Ammo Finder - Increases the drop chance of Heavy ammo on a kill.
- Heavy Ammo Scout - When a finder creates an ammo brick for you, it creates one for your teammates.
- Gauntlets
- Grenade Kickstart - When you do not have grenade energy, your Armor Charge is expended to give you grenade energy.
- Momentum Transfer - Causing damage with a grenade reduces your Snare Bomb cool down.
- Bolstering Detonation - Grants dodge energy when you cause damage to combatants with a grenade.
- Chest
- Charged Up - Increases the amount of Armor Charges you can hold by 1.
- Resist mods, your choice - choose for the activity you are going into!

- Innervation - Collect orbs for grenade ability cooldown.
- Cloak
- Reaper - Use dodge, then kill a combatant with a weapon to spawn an orb of power.
- Bomber - Reduces your grenade ability cooldown when using your dodge.
- Utility Kickstart - dodge more often by gaining class ability for every Armor Charge when your class ability is expended.
Armor Mods are unlocked by progressing your Guardian Rank. Check out the Guardian Ranks Guide for more information.
Artifact Mods
This build does not require any artifact mods from Episode 1. IF you would like to add mods, these would pair well with this build:
- Any Champion mods from Column 1.
- Authorized Mod: Elemental Charge - Energy cost of Elemental Mods is decreased significantly.
- Elemental Siphon - Rapid final blows with a kinetic weapon or a weapon matching your Super will create an elemental pickup that also matches your Super.
- Counter Energy - When a member of your fireteam stuns a Champion, you gain energy for your least charged ability.
- Void Hegemony - While you have a Void or Prismatic subclass equipped, defeated weakened targets provides a small void overshield.
- Expanding Abyss - Void sources deal increased damage to weakened targets.
Recommended Weapons
- Kinetic Slot: Witherhoard - Blighted targets take damage over time and blight the nearby area on death. Great for damage over time on bosses.
- Energy Slot: The Recluse with Repulsor Brace and Destabilizing Rounds - Void weapons make orbs of power when used in conjunction with Reaper.
- Power Slot: Edge Transit - the Void Grenade Launcher is perfect for killing grouped up enemies or DPS on a boss.
Variants
- Swap all cloak mods for Empowered Finish, Font of Restoration and Proximity Ward on the cloak.
- If you find that creating orbs of power is not an issue, but survivability is, combine these mods to gain a Void overshield and an armor charge from performing a Finisher.
- Swap Power Preservation for Void Siphon on the helmet.
- This provides you an easier way to create orbs of power while on Omnioculus Void Hunter for your fireteam if you are not getting final blows on combatants.
- Feel free to utilize other weapons, as they do not make or break this build. Use what works for you!
Summary
With near 100% Invisibility uptime, you benefit from being off of enemy radar and gain a significant amount of damage resistance. Utilizing Void weapons will create ammo and orbs of power, which help your Super ability and Vortex Grenade regenerate quickly. Abilities such as your Snare Bomb and Shadowshot: Moebius Quiver keep combatants Weakened and Suppressed, allowing you to kill them more easily. If you want confidence in your ability to keep yourself and your team alive, then the Omnioculus Void Hunter Build is for you.
