Carino Lethal Flash Leveling Guide

Frozen Canvas

Last Updated:October 25, 2024|Changelog

Welcome to the Carino Lethal Flash Leveling Guide. Carino's Lethal Flash trait is all about Shotgun Effect, which means you want to combine him with Projectile Skills like Split Arrow. As a result of the Shotgun Effect, Lethal Flash often plays from melee range.

This leveling build uses Blazing Bullet as it is an incredibly powerful skill that dominates the early game.

Treasure Troves

Treasure Troves are a way to super-charge your leveling experience. They give vastly more experience than regular zones and yield exclusive Legendary items. You need to complete each of them once for a Talent Point. For an easier leveling experience, you repeat the Treasure Trove until you're 8-10 levels above the zone, then rush through the next few areas. Follow your side quest to find the Treasure Trove locations.

Keep an eye out for the following Legendary items as you clear Treasure Troves.

  • New Ear Hills (L7): Look out for Rock Lizard's Skull, it has a large amount of maximum life and generates tenacity blessings. It is a good unique early on to bolster your defenses.
  • Nectar Valley (L16): Look out for Desire of Survival as a good defensive option. This trove can also drop Phantasm and is a good offensive option, however, due to Carino's Ammo Consumption mechanic it can result in a clunkier playstyle.
  • Dawn Avenue (L27): Look out for Boor's Iron Crown and Wind Chasers. These are both beneficial offensive items, and Wind Chasers provide some movement speed that can be difficult to gain during levelling.
  • Sanctuary of Solitude (L35): Look out for Plain Echo as a good weapon for the campaign.
  • Silver Sands' End (L44): Look out for Legendary items listed previously such as Boor's Iron Crown.
  • Hall of Grandiosity (L54): Here you should farm to level 60 to reach your next Hero Trait before completing the campaign.
  • Lonesome, Pentagram Astrolabe and Omniscient Prototype are all incredibly powerful items that can be found during leveling, but they are rare. If you find one of them, be certain to equip them. Omniscient Prototype is available after act 2, and the others can be found in every trove.

AUTHORS NOTE: Wind Chasers are a great item that allow you to use Aim without suffering the movement speed penalty. Replace Burst of Anger with Aim if you are comfortable with the playstyle.

Leveling Tips and Tricks

  • Your first active skill slot (top left in the Skills menu) is your "Main Skill," this matters because many items and Hero Traits have effects that only apply to the Main Skill.
  • If you're ever in doubt of where to go, click the campaign quest on the left of your screen and a golden path shows you the way.
  • This guide assumes you get most of your levels through Treasure Troves and rush to the objectives in other zones for maximum efficiency.
  • When allocating Pact Points, prioritize Elemental Resistance first, then select Damage nodes until you fill the section. If you have leftover points, put them into Drop nodes as you begin farming the Netherrealm.
  • All support gems become available from the Skill Shop at level 55. At this stage cross reference with the embeds to make sure you're set up for the Netherrealm.
  • In Chapter 3 gear you find comes with varying amounts of Energy, after changing your gear, be sure to go to the Energy Menu under Skills to reassign missing Energy.

Equipment & Stat Priorities

Main stats to be looking for while progressing the campaign

Look for these Offensive stats on weapons:

  • Physical Damage to Attacks
  • Fire Damage to Attacks
  • Projectile Damage
  • Attack Skill Level
  • Critical Strike Rating
  • Critical Damage

Look for these Defensive stats on armor:

  • Max Life
  • Life %
  • Resistances to cap your resistances at 60%
  • Evasion

Core Skill

  • Blazing Bullet is a Fire Damage projectile skill that converts all of the skills Physical Damage to Fire Damage. It benefits greatly from increased Quantity of projectiles and Jumps.
  • Centralized Loading is your mobility skill. It grants damage to the next 3 Projectile Skills you cast after using it. It synergizes very well with Lethal Flash Carino's Malice Charge.
  • Use Compound Source to quickly regenerate Life and Mana whenever needed.
  • Burst of Anger grants a an additional attack damage multiplier and an attack speed increase that resets upon killing an enemy. Focus on maintaining this buff as close to 100% of the time as possible.
  • Scorch is a curse that causes enemies to take increased fire damage. This is a large damage boost. Focus on maintaining this debuff on powerful foes. It also provides you with a chance to ignite enemies, which when combined with base ignite damage from the Warlock Talent Tree enables True Flame for a massive damage boost!

  • Level 1: Support Lightning Shot with Multiple Projectiles.

Equip the following as you obtain them:

  • Level 3: Support Compound Potion with Residues
    • Blink Bow is the fastest mobility option. It is a very divisive skill as it requires you to aim behind you character. If you do not like this playstyle; replace it with Centralized Loading.
  • Level 7-11: Replace Lightning Shot with Blazing Bullet. Additionally, support it with Projectile Penetration.
  • Level 22: Equip Scorch. Support Blazing Bullet with Added Fire Damage.
  • Level 26-54: Continue filling out supports on your utility skills. Now, the goal is to slowly add on Supports and Auras as you gain Energy and levels.

Level 55: At this point you have access to every skill in the game, continue to follow the embed shown as you gain more Energy.

God of Might

Start by allocating 24 points in this tree, the - Skill Cost nodes are important later when you start using Passive Skills.

Warlord

This tree provides additional benefits for your tenacity blessings provided by God of Might, and allows you to scale Affliction by allowing it to apply to fire damage hits through True Flame providing substantial damage. Make sure you have the base ignite damage provided by this tree to utilize True Flame.

Marksman

This tree provides 2 very powerful Major Talents; Gale and Three Birds with One Stone. The later option now provides additional damage per added projectile which synergizes greatly with your Shotgun Effect.

There are tons of different Talent Trees to explore, if you want to learn more about this robust system check out our Talent Tree Guide.

Traits and Memories

How To Unlock Traits

To unlock your traits you must reach the corresponding level and then place a Hero Memory in the available socket. The first 2 memories are guaranteed to drop from the following Stage Bosses;

  • Level 47 - King Lionheart - Lion's Pass
  • Level 57 - Ordrek - Rusted Abyss

Hero Traits

Carino Lethal Flash Leveling Hero Traits, Relics & Memories

Level 45: Dart Shot grants a bonus to all your Projectile Damage for 4 seconds after using a Mobility Skill. So make sure to spam your Centralized Loading when fighting enemies.

Level 60: Evil Ouroboros causes your projectile skills to return with a negative damage multiplier, dealing damage again. It also reduces their skill range as an additional downside.

Level 75: Malice Charge reloads all your ammunition when you use a mobility skill, which in this case is Centralized Loading. It synergizes very well with Dart Shot and reduces your shotgun falloff for every ammo consumed recently, increasing your damage significantly.

Hero Memories

Hero Memories are required to activate your Hero Traits. Look for the following modifiers on your Hero Memories:

Base AffixesRandom Affixes
DexterityAttack Speed

Divinity Slates

The Netherrealm

Racing through your Netherrealm quests as quickly as possible results in you becoming under leveled for the required zones to progress further, stay within 3 levels of the zones you're completing to avoid a harsh experience penalty. Check out our How to Progress the Netherrealm if you're unsure of anything.

Here's a list of things to do while progressing the early stages of the Netherrealm;

  • Level 60, The Trade House is unlocked. Be sure to read and understand our Trade House for Beginners Guide before making any big purchases.
  • Higher item levels of gear come with higher quantities of Energy. Look to improve your current gear with items that have increased Energy so that you can use more Support Skills.
  • Utilize Crafting to greatly increase the power of gear you come across. It costs very low amounts of Flame Sand and Fine Embers to craft basic gear.

Transitioning to Endgame

Weapon

  • Search Netherrealm Stages or the Trade House for items with any of the following modifiers on Bows.
    • Prefix
      • Fire Damage added to Gear
      • Physical Damage added to Gear
      • Strength
      • % Gear Physical Damage
    • Suffix
      • Critical Strike Damage
      • Gear Attack Speed
      • Projectile Damage

      • Gear Critical Strike Rating

Remaining Gear

Focus on crafting the remainder of your Armor and Jewelry with the following goals in mind;

  • Cap all of your Resistances at the 60% maximum.
  • Reach a high amount of Strength. Strength provides 0.5% more damage per point.
  • Have a healthy Life total
  • Increase your Physical or Fire damage
  • Increase your Attack Speed. Although you are gated by reloading, attack speed makes the build feel better to play.

Legendary Items

Leveling

  • The Pentagram Astrolabe grants a large amount of Flat Damage to your Active Skills.
  • Plain Echo is a great weapon for early campaign.

Endgame

  • Kaleidoscope provides a rotating buff that grants you a lot of damage. It is especially powerful due to the build utilizing Physical damage and converting it to Fire damage, allowing it to benefit from 2 of the rotating buffs instead of just 1.
  • Hekate's Vision is a powerful offensive and defensive option, and its downside doesn't affect the build as it only uses 1 curse.
