Treasure Troves

Treasure Troves are a way to super-charge your leveling experience. They give vastly more experience than regular zones and yield exclusive Legendary items. You need to complete each of them once for a Talent Point. For an easier leveling experience, you repeat the Treasure Trove until you're 8-10 levels above the zone, then rush through the next few areas. Follow your side quest to find the Treasure Trove locations.

Keep an eye out for the following Legendary items as you clear Treasure Troves.

  • New Ear Hills (L7): Look out for Desire of Survival and Rock Lizard's Skull.
  • Nectar Valley (L16): Look out for Dragon Scale Shoes.
  • Dawn Avenue (L27): Look out for Chain of Resistance and Ice Pulse.
  • Sanctuary of Solitude (L35): Look out for Interlocking Soul.
  • Silver Sands' End (L44): Look out for Omniscient Prototype and Lonesome.
  • Hall of Grandiosity (L54): Look out for Omniscient Prototype and Lonesome.

Every Treasure Trove has a small chance to drop Lonesome which boosts you damage significantly if you equip only 1 ring and Omniscient Prototype which provides around 120 Energy allowing you to equip additional Support Skills.

Leveling Tips and Tricks

  • Your first active skill slot (top left in the Skills menu) is your "Main Skill," this matters because many items and Hero Traits have effects that only apply to the Main Skill.
  • If you're ever in doubt of where to go, click the campaign quest on the left of your screen and a golden path shows you the way.
  • This guide assumes you get most of your levels through Treasure Troves and rush to the objectives in other zones for maximum efficiency.
  • When allocating Pact Points, prioritize Life first, then select Damage nodes until you fill the section. If you have leftover points, put them into Drop nodes as you begin farming the Netherrealm.
  • Complete all 10 Levels of the Hero Forge to unlock all of your Hero Trait abilities and gain 6 additional Talent Points.
  • All support gems become available from the Skill Shop at level 50. At this stage cross reference with the embeds to make sure you're set up for the Netherrealm.
  • In Chapter 3 gear you find comes with varying amounts of Energy, after changing your gear, be sure to go to the Energy Menu under Skills to reassign missing Energy.

Equipment & Stat Priorities

Main stats to be looking for while progressing the campaign

Look for these Defensive stats on armor:

  • Max Life

Core Skill

  • Use Summon Machine Guard and Summon Spider Tank to deal damage before you have access to consistent explosions at level 45.
    • Using 2 different minion Skills allows you to summon 6 minions total by summoning 3 Machine Guards and 3 Spider Tanks.
  • At level 45 you detonate your minions consistently thanks to Quick Battle Hero Trait so swap to Summon Grim Phantom for automatic explosions from that point on.
  • Use Leap Attack to move fast through the zones. Support it with Quick Mobility for even faster movement.
  • Add Blink for even better mobility, if you want more defense use Protection Field instead.
  • Compound Source is the best way to Restore your Life quickly. This is especially useful if you use the Interlocking Soul weapon.
  • Elemental Shock increases Elemental damage dealt by your Minions.
    • Use it to increase damage dealt by Summon Grim Phantom thanks to their natural damage conversion to Lightning.
  • Out of all Synthetic Troops Summon Spider Tank deals the most amount of damage when triggering Self-Destruct Protocol thanks to the 6% additional damage per summoned Spider Tank modifier.
    • At level 70+ if you want to deal more damage and don't mind sacrificing quality of life use 6 Spider Tanks instead.

Talents

Leveling Talent Tree
Move to slider at the bottom to interact with the Tool

God of Machines

This is your core Talent Tree where you put your first 24 points before moving onto Machinist, then returning here to allocate additional points later.

Machinist

Allocate 32 points in Machinist. Boss helps reach number of 6 Minions. Kinetic Conversion provides Barrier and reduced damage taken while moving.

Steel Vanguard

Finally, allocate 32 points in Steel Vanguard. Many Minor and Major talents in this Talent Tree reduce Sealed Mana which is required to fit all of your Auras. Then their effectiveness is increased thanks to Reflection. Knowledgeable increases the effectiveness of Elemental Shock.

There are tons of different Talent Trees to explore, if you want to learn more about this robust system check out our Talent Tree Guide.

Traits, Relics and Memories

Hero Traits

Hero Traits, Relics & Memories

Level 45: Unlock Quick Battle to scale your Self-Destruct damage with Minion Life and Energy Shield. This also causes Minions to initiate Self-Destruct Protocol when gaining overload as opposed to when losing it.

Level 75: Choose Guerilla Tactics, this automates a lot of your damage by triggering your Main Skill if it is a Synthetic Troop when you pick up Mechanical Parts. On top of that, picking up Mechanical Parts increases the damage of Self-Destruct Protocol by up to 60%.

Level 90: Select Meaningful Death adding up to 125% Overload effect and 1% additional damage for every 2% Overload effect.

Relics and Memories

While leveling Charge Calling Moto, look for any combination of the following stats on your Hero Relics and Memories;

Hero RelicHero Memories
% Minion Critical Strike RatingAdditional Self-Destruct Damage triggered by Self-Destruct Protocol
Adds 1-2 Physical Damage to Attacks for every 212-408 Max Life of Minion% Minion Critical Strike Damage

The Netherrealm

Racing through your Netherrealm quests as quickly as possible results in you becoming under leveled for the required zones to progress further, stay within 3 levels of the zones you're completing to avoid a harsh experience penalty. Check out our How to Progress the Netherrealm if you're unsure of anything.

Here's a list of things to do while progressing the early stages of the Netherrealm;

  • Level 60, The Trade House is unlocked. Be sure to read and understand our Trade House for Beginners Guide before making any big purchases.
  • Higher item levels of gear come with higher quantities of Energy. Look to improve your current gear with items that have increased Energy so that you can use more Support Skills.
  • Utilize Prototype Crafting and Enchanting to greatly increase the power of non-legendary gear you come across. It costs very low amounts of Flame Dust and Flame Sand to lock 1 good affix in place and reroll up to 4 new modifiers.
  • If you don't have enough mana to use all of your Auras get Divinity Slates with -Sealed Mana modifiers.

Transitioning to Endgame

Weapon

  • If at any point you start struggling with damage consider replacing Summon Grim Phantom with Summon Spider Tank and search Beacons or the Trade House for Two-Handed Hammers with any of the following modifiers:
    • Minion/Active Skill Level
    • Minion Damage
    • Minion Attack Speed
    • Minion Critical Strike Damage
    • Minion Critical Strike Chance
    • Chance for Minions to Deal Double Damage
  • Craft the items using prototype crafting until you have the Minion or Active Skill Level modifier as well as 3 of the other modifiers listed.
  • Enchant the item with a 5th modifier.

Remaining Gear

Focus on crafting the remainder of your Armor and Jewelry with the following goals in mind;

  • Cap all of your Resistances at the 75% maximum.
  • Have a healthy Life pool.
  • Increase your Minions Damage

Legendary Items

Leveling

  • Interlocking Soul - Remember that anytime you use a Summon skill you lose 5% Life. This doesn't apply when Grim Phantom resummons itself, but does when you use supporting Minion skills like Elemental Shock.
    • To counter this invest into Life Regeneration on gear, use Rejuvenation and Compound Source.
  • With enough regeneration you can dual wield Interlocking Soul.

Set Items

As you complete the Netherrealm be sure to farm the following Voyager's Commemorative Set items.

  • Voyager's Commemorative Cape
  • Voyager's Commemorative Strap
  • Voyager's Commemorative Goggles
  • Voyager's Commemorative Boots
  • Voyager's Commemorative Cufflinks
  • Voyager's Commemorative Brooch
  • Voyager's Commemorative Pinky Ring x2

Endgame

  • Winter of Origin - Make sure to get one that provides more stacks of Focus Blessing or the same as Additional Cooldown Recovery Speed requires to work.
  • Mind Infusion - Grants +1 Max Synthetic Troop Minion Quantity allowing you to remove Maniacal Army from you Main Skill link.
