Realm Lord Traveler Boss Guide

The Realm Lord (Timemark 7) Traveler is one of the Pinnacle Bosses of Torchlight Infinite and is the main Antagonist of the current endgame story. He is one of the most challenging fights in Torchlight Infinite. He can drop exclusive Legendaries and Memory Fragments.

Defeating The Realm Lord Traveler for the first time (Timemark 6) grants you a Talent Point from the Main story Quest. This version of the fight is much easier then the others and can only be done on your first Character each Season. It is replaced with the Normal Timemark 7 Traveler after for all other characters made.

To challenge the Traveler you need to defeat any 4 Watchers of the Netherrealm (4 of the same Watcher works!) in Timemark 7.

Skills Breakdown

Auto Attack

The Traveler Auto Attacks when you are in nearby. He swings once in front of him dealing medium Physical damage. This is avoided by stepping to the side or staying behind the Traveler.

Purple Portal Blocks

The Traveler Spawns Purple Portals around the arena(1 in Phase 1, 2 in Phase 2, 3 in Phase 3). The portals pass Purple Blocks between each other. If you connect with a Purple Block you take moderate Physical and mid Erosion damage. Avoid the Purple Blocks by watching the portals spinning around the arena. Plan around these portals to avoid accidentally running into one.

Purple Ball and Pool

The Traveler fires a Purple Ball at your current location dealing Erosion damage (1 in Phase 1, 2 in Phase 2, 3 in Phase 3). Shortly after a portal spawns above your head that drops the Purple Ball on the ground. After landing this creates a Purple Pool that grows and shrinks in radius (1 in Phase 1, 2 in Phase 2, 3 in Phase 3). The Purple Pools deal significant Erosion damage over time and are best to avoid unless you have high Erosion Resistance.

3 Teleport Attack

The Traveler teleports to your location and auto attacks dealing medium Physical damage 2 times. On the third teleport he unleashes a giant frontal Shockwave that deals significant Physical damage. Avoid this by watching the Traveler and counting his teleports. Be sure to get behind or far beside the Traveler to avoid this Shockwave.

Transition Phase

At 75%, 50% and 25% the Traveler goes immune and transitions into the next phase. During the time The Traveler is off the map and spawns waves of monsters that have very low HP. Kill them quickly to start the next Phase.

Soft Enrage and Death Circles

Starting in Phase 2 The Traveler triggers his Soft Enrage Timer by spawning Red Eyes around the northern border of the arena. These Red Eyes periodically spawn a Death Circle telegraphed by a Red Circle on the ground. After a brief delay the Death Circle explodes dealing massive Erosion damage. The longer the fight goes the harder it becomes to avoid the Death Circles. The best way to avoid this is by watching the ground and reacting quickly with a mobility skill.

4 Teleport Attack

The Traveler teleports to your location and auto attacks dealing medium Physical damage 2 times. On the third teleport he unleashes a giant frontal Shockwave that deals significant Physical damage. Avoid this by watching the Traveler and counting his teleports. Be sure to get behind or far beside the Traveler to avoid this Shockwave.

The fourth teleport releases a giant forking frontal Shockwave that deals massive Physical damage. Avoid this by watching The Traveler and counting how many times he teleports. Be sure to find a safe spot in between the forking Shockwaves or stay behind The Traveler.

Machine Gun Attack

The Traveler stops in place and channels into a Purple Portal that creates a rapid fire of mini Death Circles. The best way to avoid this is to run away from The Traveler, always moving forward and watching the mini Death Circles spawning behind you. Be sure to pay extra attention to the ground as normal Death Circles continue to spawn randomly during this attack and can block your current path.

5 Teleport Attack

The fifth teleport creates a giant X-pattern central Shockwave on himself dealing crazy Physical damage. Avoid this by watching The Traveler and counting how many times he teleports. Be sure to find a safe spot in between the X Shockwave.

The Traveler Mechanics

Once you enter the Boss Arena, you find The Traveler in the center. After an un-skippable cutscene the fight begins. The Timemark 7 Traveler is harder than the Timemark 6 Main Story versions. Try to stay behind The Traveler as much as possible. It is highly recommended to have maxed out Fire, Cold, Lightning and as much Erosion resistance possible! The fight itself is split into 3 Phases with a Phase Transition. After each transition The Traveler's abilities get stronger.

Phase 1

The Traveler begins the fight in the center in the arena and rotates through his basic attacks. He Auto Attacks if you are nearby, spawns Purple Portal Blocks, Purple Balls and Pool and does his 3 Teleport Attack. Study these attacks and learn to avoid them. At 75% HP The Traveler goes immune and transitions into phase 2, keeping all his abilities and gaining more.

Phase Transition

At 75% and 50% The Traveler goes immune and transitions into the next phase. During the time The Traveler teleports off the map and begins spawning waves of monsters that have very low HP. Kill the waves quickly to start the next phase.

Note: The Travelers attacks become stronger after each phase transition.

Phase 2

After clearing the waves of monsters during the transition phase The Traveler returns to the center of the arena and rotates through his basic abilities. He now spawns 2 Purple Portals, each spawning Purple Blocks. He fires 2 Purple Balls making 2 Purple Pools, and now does the 4 Teleport Attack. He also begins his Soft Enrage Timer spawning Death Circles periodically and adds the Machine Gun Attack to his move list. Study these attacks and learn how to avoid them all. At 50% HP The Traveler goes immune and transitions into phase 3, keeping all his abilities and adding more.

Phase 3 (New Mechanics)

After clearing the waves of monsters during the transition phase The Traveler returns to the center of the arena and rotates through his abilities from the first 2 phases. He now spawns 3 Purple Portals each spawning Purple Blocks. He fires 3 Purple Balls making 3 Purple Pools, and now does the 5 Teleport Attack. He also uses the Machine Gun Attack and the Soft Enrage and Death Circles continue to grow. Keep in mind some attacks continue to deal damage as The Traveler is slowly dying. Keep moving to avoid end of fight damage and possibly dying and losing your loot. Study these attacks above to learn how to avoid them all. Keep constant focus on the ground and avoid all the Death Circles, Purple Pools and Rocks.
