The Thunder Wastes Watcher is one of the five "Watchers of the Netherrealm". You must defeat Watchers to collect boss keys and challenge the Traveler, one of the pinnacle bosses. The Watchers of the Netherrealm are harder than typical Beacon Bosses. The difficulty of the Watcher is based on which Timemark you are attempting.
In order to fight the Thunder Wastes Watcher, you have to collect Starshards by completing Netherrealm stages or trading with other players. Watchers have specific loot tables. Chaos Invasion Card Inheritance does not affect the Watcher's fight or loot table in any way. You can learn more about their loot tables by selecting the boss in-game.
Rewards
All The Watchers of the Netherrealm have a pool of exclusive Legendries and Precise Skills that can drop, this makes some Watchers more valuable than others. Watchers can also award various currencies, Memory Cards, Beacons, and items from the global drop pool. Farming Watchers is a great way to accumulate keys to take on the Traveler at your current Timemark.
Skill Breakdown
The Thunder Wastes Watcher performs 3 consecutive dashes in a triangle formation, the second and third dash leave behind a small Clone. The Watcher then fires a spread of 3 Lightning Shuriken projectiles at you. Dashes deal significant damage on contact, avoid them with perpetual movement away from the Watcher. Lightning Shurikens deal low damage.
The Thunder Wastes Watcher leaps into the air and strikes the ground where you stand, then creates a Clone who repeats this attack once. This attack deals significant damage on impact, avoid it by not standing still.
The Thunder Wastes Watcher calls down a Lightning Storm that quickly travels in a straight line, repeatedly striking the ground below. You take significant damage over time while under the Lightning storm, avoid it by stepping out of it's way.
The Thunder Wastes Watcher performs a quick ash to your location, dealing damage on contact. Avoid significant damage by staying behind the Watcher or stepping aside.
The Thunder Wastes Watcher teleports to your location, and swings his spear after a long windup. This attack has a short range but deals major damage. Avoid it by not standing still.
The Thunder Wastes Watcher teleports to your locations and spawns an intangible and immobile Clone that slashes repeatedly for 3 seconds. Avoid taking it's mediocre damage over time by moving away from the Clone.
Throughout the fight, many of the Thunder Wastes Watcher's abilities spawns small Clones. These Clones have low HP and are easily dispatched. Clones execute weaker forms of the Thunder Wastes Watcher's Lightning Storm and Dash Attack abilities. Though weak, Clones can overrun you if left to live, so kill them quickly.
After reaching 75% health, the Thunder Wastes Watcher uses Thunderous Annihilation. After disappearing, intangible clones begin appearing at the Arena's border. These Clones rapidly create delayed Laser blasts targeting your current position. Lasers are telegraphed by a Blue Line, which quickly becomes a Red Line. After a short delay the Laser fires, dealing massive damage on contact. Avoid certain death by navigating through Blue Lines and avoiding Red Lines. This attack repeats once after all Clones have fired their Lasers. The Thunder Wastes Watcher can use this ability multiple times.
The Thunder Waste Watcher spawns 5 intangible Clones in a Crescent shaped pattern around the Arena's border. After a brief delay, the Clones turn into Lightning Balls that move to your current location. Avoid taking moderate damage by quickly moving in any direction away from the incoming Lightning Balls.
The Thunder Waste Watcher creates an army of intangible Clones in a square shaped pattern around the Arena's border. After a brief delay, the Clones turn into Lightning Balls that move to the opposite side, each dealing mediocre damage on contact. Avoid this attack by staying within square's corners, and wait for the Lightning Balls to leave the Arena.
The Thunder Waste Watcher spawns 4 Lightning Pillars which sporadically charge up to explode in a radius. When a Pillar is charging up, a Blue Ring appears that indicates the Lightning Pillar's current charge by growing. Once fully charged, the Pillar explodes and leaves behind a Big Clone. Pillars that are not charging up are safe, so avoid taking cataclysmic damage by staying outside the radius of a charging Pillar.
Throughout the fight, a few of the Thunder Wastes Watcher's abilities big Clones. These Clones have mediocre HP and are easily dispatched. Clones execute slightly weaker forms of the Thunder Wastes Watcher's Lightning Storm, Dash Attack, Leap Attack, and Teleport Clone Slash abilities. Though weak, Clones can overrun you if left to live, so kill them quickly.
On Timemark 8, the Thunder Waste Watcher gains the ability to generate Lightning Hot Spots that deal low damage over time before detonating for significant damage. Lightning Hot Spots are created wherever a Clone stands. Though the damage over time is weak, the explosion is not. Avoid taking major damage by staying away from Lightning Hot Spots.
On Timemark 8, the Thunder Waste Watcher gains the ability to cast Lightning Blast. This is telegraphed by the formation of a Blue Ring with a growing inner Light Blue Ring. When the Rings meet, they detonate and deal cataclysmic damage within the radius. Avoid this by moving away from the Blue Rings on the ground as they appear.
After reaching 50% health, the Thunder Wastes Watcher uses an enhanced version of Thunderous Annihilation. After disappearing, intangible clones begin appearing at the Arena's border. These Clones rapidly create Laser blasts with shorter delays targeting your current position. Lasers are telegraphed by a Blue Line, which quickly becomes a Red Line. After a short delay the Laser fires, dealing massive damage on contact. Avoid certain death by navigating through Blue Lines and avoiding Red Lines. This repeats 5 times after all Clones have fired their Lasers. After the second barrage of Lasers the Watcher uses his Lightning Pillars attack, here they can be destroyed by damaging them, do so to ensure your survival. The Thunder Wastes Watcher can use this ability multiple times.
Thunder Wastes Watcher Mechanics
The Thunder Wastes Watcher appears in the center of the Arena. This Watcher's abilities revolve around area denial and high damage attacks from multiple fronts. Pay special attention to the ground, many of this Watcher's most lethal abilities are telegraphed. It is highly recommended to have maxed out Fire, Cold and Lightning Resistance. The fight itself is split into 2 major Phases: The Boss Phase and Thunderous Annihilation, each repeating multiple times.
Phase 1
The Thunder Waste Watcher always begin the fight using his Triangle Dash ability, be mindful of this to avoid an early death. In phase 1 the Watcher rotates through his standard abilities: Triangle Dash, Leap Attack, Thunder Storm, Dash Attack, Frontal Slam, and Teleport Clone Slash. In Timemark 8, he also uses his Lightning Hot Spot and Lightning Blast abilities. This phase ends when the Watcher reaches 75% HP and uses his first Thunderous Annihilation.

After reaching 75% health, the Thunder Wastes Watcher uses Thunderous Annihilation. After disappearing, intangible clones begin appearing at the Arena's border. These Clones rapidly create delayed Laser blasts targeting your current position. Lasers are telegraphed by a Blue Line, which quickly becomes a Red Line. After a short delay the Laser fires, dealing massive damage on contact. Avoid certain death by navigating through Blue Lines and avoiding Red Lines. This attack repeats once after all Clones have fired their Lasers.
Phase 2
After using Thunderous Annihilation for the first time, the Thunder Wastes Watcher returns to the arena. The Watcher rotates through his standard abilities, and can now also use his Clone Crescent, Clone Army, and Thunderous Annihilation 1 abilities. This phase ends when the Watcher reaches 50% HP and uses Thunderous Annihilation 2.
Transition 2
After reaching 50% health, the Thunder Wastes Watcher uses an enhanced version of Thunderous Annihilation. After disappearing, intangible clones begin appearing at the Arena's border. These Clones rapidly create Laser blasts with shorter delays targeting your current position. Lasers are telegraphed by a Blue Line, which quickly becomes a Red Line. After a short delay the Laser fires, dealing massive damage on contact. Avoid certain death by navigating through Blue Lines and avoiding Red Lines. This repeats 5 times after all Clones have fired their Lasers. After the second barrage of Lasers the Watcher uses his Lightning Pillars attack, here they can be destroyed by damaging them, do so to ensure your survival.
Phase 3
After using After using Thunderous Annihilation 2 for the first time, the Thunder Wastes Watcher returns to the arena. This phase is the same as Boss Phase 2, except now the Watcher uses Thunderous Annihilation 2 instead of the weaker version.
