Lord of the Void Sea has 3 difficulty levels. This guide focuses on the easiest difficulty, the 1 Invitation version of the fight. Challenge the Void Pirate's leader by offering Void Sea Invitation - Craving, to the Great Void.
- Void Sea Invitation - Craving has a small chance to drop from the Ghost Sea Bride.
- This Invitation can also be purchased from the Trade House.

The Lord of the Void Sea Mechanics
Barrels
The Lord of the Void Sea's attacks revolve around his Combat-Anchor and emplaced Barrels. The Anchor can be Imbued with eldritch power, modifying the Pirate Lord's direct attacks against you. Many of his abilities generate Barrels which detonate after a delay; when struck by his Anchor or by another exploding Barrel. To prepare for this fight, make sure you have Physical mitigation and capped Resistances.
Anchor Color (Buffs)
Throughout the fight The Lord of the Void Sea changes the active color (buff) of his Anchor. This causes the Anchor to activate the Barrels around the arena causing different damage and effects for each color Purple and Green add Erosion damage, Red adds Fire damage.
No Imbue
The Lord of the Void Sea has no imbue at the start of the encounter. Without an Imbue his direct attacks with the anchor deal Physical damage with no added special properties.
Barrels struck by the Anchor explode after a short delay, these explosions can initiate a cataclysmic chain reaction.
Rolling Barrels struck by the Anchor begin bouncing, dealing mediocre damage when impacting the ground. Bouncing Barrels' impact causes additional Barrels to also begin bouncing. After 2 bounces, the Barrel explodes on it's next impact dealing high damage in a small radius.
Purple Imbue
The Lord of the Void Sea can Imbue his Anchor with Purple Energy, massively increasing the lethality of all Anchor and Barrel abilities and causes them to deal Erosion damage. With this Imbue, direct attacks with the Anchor apply a cataclysmic damage over time debuff. Do not get hit.
Barrels struck by the Anchor explode after a short delay, dealing cataclysmic damage in a small radius and leaving behind a Purple Pool. Explosions can initiate a chain reaction, and Purple Pool deal lingering and cataclysmic damage over time when stepped on.
Rolling Barrels struck by the Anchor begin bouncing, dealing mediocre damage when impacting the ground. Bouncing Barrels' impact causes additional Barrels to also begin bouncing. After 2 bounces, the Barrel explodes on it's next impact dealing cataclysmic damage in a small radius before leaving a Purple Pool behind.
The Purple Pools leave a nasty debuff on your character. This means a single mistake can easily be lethal if you do not have a way to remove debuffs (such as from the Alchemist tree), or a significant amount of recovery. Be especially careful when zoning back into the encounter during a Purple imbue, if you spawn in a Purple Pool DO NOT MOVE OR USE ANY SKILLS, sit in the grace period until the pool beneath you goes away or risk a quick second death.
Red Imbue
The Lord of the Void Sea can Imbue his Anchor with Red Energy, modifying his Anchor and Barrel abilities and causes them to deal Fire damage. During this phase be particularly careful of explosion chains.
Barrels struck by the Anchor explode after a short delay, these explosions can initiate a cataclysmic chain reaction.
Rolling Barrels struck by the Anchor change course and begin tracking you, turning slowly. They detonate on impact, dealing cataclysmic damage.
Green Imbue
The Lord of the Void Sea can Imbue his Anchor with Green Energy, modifying his Anchor and Barrel abilities and causes them to deal Erosion damage.
Barrels struck by the Anchor explode after a short delay, dealing poor damage but leaving behind a Green Pool. These explosions can initiate a cataclysmic chain reaction, and Green Pools deal lingering and potent damage over time.
Rolling Barrels struck by the Anchor change course and begin tracking you, turning slowly. They detonate on impact, dealing cataclysmic damage and leaving behind a Green Pool.
Barrels
Throughout the fight, the Lord of the Void Sea spawns Barrels in various formations. These Barrels are harmless until the Pirate Lord interacts with them. When any of his attacks connect with a Barrel, it changes color and explodes after a short delay. Damage dealt is dependent on the current Anchor Imbue.
Once you study and understand the Barrel formations (we highly recommend watching the videos below) it becomes easier to plan a safe path to areas that won't explode. Remember that stationary Brown Barrels are inactive and harmless.
The Barrels can act as a distraction for parts of the fight where mechanics begin to overlap each other. Do your best to predict the patterns and find shelter far away from the cataclysmic chain reactions.
Skills Breakdown
If the Barrel is planted on the ground, it explodes in a small radius around it dealing damage based on his current Anchor buff, beware of the explosions chaining through other Barrels nearby. When the Lord of the Void Sea interacts with a rolling Barrel, it activates and begins tracking your movement until it reaches you or explodes dealing high corresponding damage.
The Lord of the Void Sea Fight
The Lord of the Void Sea employs many overlapping abilities in an attempt to overwhelm you. Do not get overwhelmed. The Pirate Lord can emplace Barrels that are harmless unless made to explode when primed with another ability, and attacks with his powerful Combat-Anchor. He can also Imbue his Anchor, modifying the mechanics and damage types dealt by his Anchor and Barrel abilities. We recommend having maxed out Erosion, Fire, and Lightning resistances. ALL of the Lord of the Void Sea's abilities deal partial Physical damage, so seek sources of Physical mitigation. In addition to his normal abilities, the Pirate Lord may occasionally leap through the Arena. Fear not, this does no damage.
This fight does not change between the 4 Phases. Instead, a Phase Transition occurs at 75%, 50%, and 25% HP remaining, during which the Pirate Lord gains temporary invulnerability and casts one of the following abilities:
- Cannonade - escape it by navigating to the top of the Arena, by the tentacle blockade.
- Barrel Grid - escape the cataclysmic chain reaction by navigating to the top of the Arena, by the tentacle blockade.
Enrage Timer
At 50% HP remaining, the Lord of the Void Sea initiates a Phase transition, and also creates a Cannon Bunker. After this concludes, his enrage timer starts. If you don't end the fight within 9 minutes, an immortal version of The Ghost Sea Bride joins the fight and can use all of the abilities employed within her encounter, except now scaled to deal cataclysmic damage. If this occurs, the fight may as well be over.
