The Path of Exile 2 interviews at the Tokyo Game Show (or TGS2024) confirmed that the early access is paid similarly to past betas. In addition, we got news about damage numbers and the campaign.

NOTE: The Dengeki Online and Game Watch interviews were originally in Japanese, so the following sections are based on a translation.

During an interview with Dengeki Online, Jonathan Rogers, game director for Path of Exile 2 confirmed that the early access will be paid. It was a bit difficult to tell from the translation but it may also be that the early access starts paid and transitions to free later on. Either way, this makes sense, as Jonathan previously said they would handle this early access similarly to the Fall of Oriath and Awakening betas. If you want to know more we put together a short article on how the Path of Exile 2 early access might work.

Meanwhile, in an interview with Game Watch Trevor Gamon said the early access begins with the game's first 3 Acts. The remaining Acts will come later, either during the early access or on release.

Damage Numbers

A Reddit thread commenting on gameplay from TGS2024 gave us a first look at what could be damage numbers in Path of Exile 2. They appear on the top right of a boss's health bar. This is similar to the way damage numbers appear in many Soulslike ARPGs such as Elden Ring. To avoid screen clutter this only shows up on bosses and aggregates the damage taken instead of causing a new number to pop up for each hit.

Early Access Soon

Path of Exile 2 enters early access on November 15, 2024, and we hope to learn more leading up to the release of the PoE2 beta!
