Introducing the Maxroll Path of Exile 2 Team

Last Updated:December 6, 2024

With the early access for Path of Exile 2, we want to take some time to introduce our PoE2 team! If you're a fan of Path of Exile 1 then there are going to be a lot of familiar faces, and maybe a few new ones mixed in there. Everyone is excited to dive in and we look forward to sharing our experiences over the coming days. If you're looking for something to watch, check out our creators on Twitch!

Our Plan

First, we wanted to address some frequently asked questions.

So far, we've released very few guides for Path of Exile 2, and the guides we have are exclusively written using public information. This is because we honor our agreements.

Maxroll is run by gamers, for gamers & we see ourselves as part of the community. So we felt that the community wanted to explore PoE2 at their own pace without spoilers. There has been an unusual amount of hostility around the Path of Exile 2 launch, which is disappointing to see. Especially when some of the loudest voices when it comes to calling out the mistakes of others, are themselves doing the same thing behind the scenes.

We don't care what other sources are doing we are focusing on what feels right for us and our team. After the game goes live, we will be releasing our passive tree tool made with the public preload data. We don't want to spoil things like itemization and the Atlas Passive Tree for players so we'll hold off on other tools for the time being. We will roll out future tools when our Path of Exile 2 team, feels the time is right based on their experience playing the game, and the experiences of their communities. So without further ado, check out the introductions from some of our Path of Exile 2 team members.

Path of Exile Franchise Directors

Crouching_tuna and Zizaran lead the Path of Exile and Path of Exile 2 teams here at Maxroll.

Crouching_tuna

I'm Crouching_tuna, a huge Path of Exile fan. I love the build-creation aspect and focus on making strong builds that suit endgame and league start metas. In PoE 2, I'll explore the potential of Uniques, Ascendancies, and Skill Gems to create the most powerful builds for the toughest and most rewarding content.

I'll start with the Bloodmage Ascendancy in PoE 2. Leech and recovery seem scarce, but Bloodmage offers a solution with 10% Spell Leech. Gorespike's Critical Damage Bonus per flat life makes stacking life boost both damage and leech. These mechanics make the Ascendancy ideal for any Critical Strike, Spell-based build. Cold Spells, in particular, have numerous advantages. Freeze provides excellent defense, and they offer a high base Critical Strike. Eye of Winter applies Critical Weakness to monsters, making it easy to reach a high Critical Hit Chance. Combined with triggered Comet and a self-cast Frost Wall, this can be a powerful combination for nuking rare monsters and bosses.

Zizaran

I’m Zizaran, love making beginner content for new players and arranging events. I try to pop out lots of videos to explain different game mechanics while personally pushing the endgame content on hardcore.

I’ll be likely starting Titan and going for a combination of slams and totems

Path of Exile 2 Creators

cArn

Hey cArn here, I was a DotA 2 and Starcraft II pro gamer in Korea, and I have been one of the top HCSSF racers in Path of Exile since 2020. I am what you would call a melee main and like to min-max every part of the progression with the builds I make. I also happen to be the World's First level 100 in Hardcore Diablo 4.

In Early Access I will be playing a Titan that eventually dual wields 2-handed Maces, and focuses on Hammer of the Gods and Stampede, but might also play Warbringer instead if more Warcries are available.

Tytykiller

A well-known Path of Exile 1 racer, looking to go fast in Path of Exile 2. I'm going Flicker Strike Invoker.

Havoc616

Hello, I'm havoc616. A Path of Exile veteran with over 40,000 hours of playtime, known for world-first achievements and record-breaking speedruns.

In Path of Exile 2, I'll begin as a Gemling Legionnaire, with plans to speedrun every class, achieve multiple level 100s, and conquer pinnacle bosses.

Steelmage

Hey I'm Steelmage, a 12 year Path of Exile Veteran with years of racing and endgame experience. Coming into Path of Exile 2 I'll be playing a Stormweaver and focusing on everything spells with the ultimate goal of beating all the content in Hardcore.

Palsteron

Hey, I’m Palsteron and I love creating educational content for various ARPGs. I’ve been playing games for over a decade and want to share that passion with other people. I’m most passionate about build guides, especially the art of making intricate mechanics digestible. For Path of Exile 2, I’ll play the Warrior’s Warbringer. I like the Warbringer because it has a good mixture of damage and defenses, with some potentially broken interactions.

Goratha

Hey, I'm Goratha, I've played Path of Exile since open beta, and back in the day I was a top racer winning many race events, and even later on winning the first "China" gauntlet. Nowadays I focus more on build guides, I've created many different types of builds and I have a lot of experience with almost every archetype. Coming into Path of Exile 2 I'll be starting out as a Blood Mage and focusing on doing as much content as possible. The Blood Mage will be a crit-based ascendancy that scales off of life and it should end up pretty tanky.

Ventrua

The last character I played in PoE 1 got to level 100 in 22 hours starting at level 1 with empty stashes. I am known for making way too many characters, I expect to play each class within the first month of Early Access.

I’ll be starting Infernalist Minions and trying all of them until I find the best ones.

Subtractem

Most people know me for my beginner-friendly content, I look forward to guiding new players in Path of Exile 2. I'll be starting Chrononancer.

CaptainLance9

I'm CaptainLance known for being the RF guy but in Path of Exile 2 I plan to play a Stormweaver Archmage build.

Tripolarbear

Tripolarbear is known for meming and is 100% going Titan. Or is he?

Helm Breaker

Hello Helm Breaker here, I have been playing a lot of different video games since I was a kid and Path of Exile is one of my favourites.

When playing ARPGs I enjoy playing minion builds and deep dive into the minion archetype to make very in depth and min-maxed builds.

For Path of Exile 2 early access I am going to play Witch Infernalist mainly and then maybe later try out a different Ascendancy that could fit the minion archetype.

The Witch has access to stacking a lot of Energy Shield passive nodes for a solid early defensive layer.

ZiggyD

G’day, ZiggyD here! I like to take the thing you don’t understand and explain it in a way you do. Beginner’s guides and breaking down complicated mechanics to get you enjoying the game more.

What am I playing? Mercenary Grenadier because EXPLOSIONS are the best form of defence.

TIP: PoE 2 is a challenging game with no difficulty settings — except that’s a lie. You can adjust how hard the game is at any time by changing your strategy. Too hard? Explore more. There are hidden chests and secrets everywhere designed to power you up. Too easy? Skip over the trash monsters not worth your time. The difficulty adjusts organically.

aer0

What's going on guys, my name is aer0 and I’ve been playing Path of Exile for 8 years.  My favorite thing to do is push the boundaries of item and skill interactions to create fun and exciting builds. I’ll be starting Early Access as a Bloodmage with cold spells. The Bloodmage offers a balanced suite of offense and defense, including damage reduction, spell leech and critical damage bonuses.

Chronikz

Hi I'm Chronikz, I created my Path of Exile account in August 2015. Since then I have primarily dedicated my time to HCSSF. As a passionate racer, I am excited to participate in the evolution of the competitive scene in Path of Exile 2 and am eager to push boundaries while competing against and striving to surpass established racers while sharing the knowledge I collect through my streams and YouTube videos helping others along their journey in the game.

For Path of Exile 2 Early Access I start out on the Witchhunter mainly focusing on Grenades while exploring the game. Zealous Inquisition has the potential to make clearing maps a walk in the park while the inbuilt Culling and Decimating Strike as well as Witchbane make bossing significantly easier.

CoffeeBns

Hey all, I’m CoffeeBns, I’ve been playing Path of Exile since 2013 and primarily dedicate my time towards finding inexpensive builds capable of doing significant amounts of content. I stream and   I plan to start Path of Exile 2 on Infernalist with some Self Hitting Synergy through Infernal Flame.  I recommend on league start to be extremely flexible with your early leveling, let your gear drive your path to ensure you have a smooth leveling experience.  If you get a strong staff for Fire damage, start using Fire Spells.

CptnGarbage

Hey, I’m Cptn Garbage, just a guy who likes to make good builds and see other people have fun playing them. With over 10.000 hours of build creation experience in PoE 1, I will provide consistent, extremely solid builds in PoE 2 for you.

For my starter, I’ll be playing the Warbringer Ascendancy (Warrior) as it is a very well rounded sub-class with many different gameplay options. All of them will bonk enemies in the head with a big stick however. I predict Boneshatter to be the biggest stick of them all when you play around setting up heavy stuns on enemies for clearing packs.

Milkybk_

Hey I’m Milky, long-time ARPG fan and member of the Path of Exile and Torchlight Infinite branches here on Maxroll. I love delving into new games and content to discover the best ways to min max and blast the endgame so that I can share it with other players.

For the Early Access, I'll be playing the Invoker Monk as I love the fast paced combo based fantasy, so I’ll be leaning heavily into that.

Void241

Hey, I’m Void241 and I’ve been playing Path of Exile for 4 years. I thoroughly enjoy creating builds and searching for interactions to utilise them to their fullest potential. My main focus as a buildmaker is on optimisation, and even in my limited time with PoE1, I have clocked 6,000 hours in the game and even more outside of the game trying to learn as much as I can.

In Path of Exile 2 I’m most likely going to start as an Invoker, an ascendancy of the Monk. I will most likely be focusing on using the Invoker’s strength for triggers and potentially combining it with the option of archmage to create a spellcasting monk that throws out multiple spells. I also believe that Invoker provides a powerful option for defenses through its specialisation in evasion.

XaiTV

I’m XaiTV and I’ve played way too much Path of Exile. I like to use that experience to get to know all kinds of obscure mechanics in Path of Exile and use them to make my builds stronger. Unlike most others here I’m not a content creator. At Maxroll I mostly collaborate with Zizaran on his guides.

In Path of Exile 2 I’m going to start as a Acolyte of Chayula, likely using Quarterstaff skills but I’m definitely going to experiment with spells as well. I’ll focus on the “Into the Breach” portion of the ascendancy, which currently has a few unknowns on how it works, so if it doesn’t work as expected you might see me reroll a Pathfinder. I’ll avoid “Embrace the Darkness” because losing all Spirit seems really bad at first glance, but I’ll only find out for sure once I test it out of course.

Zen_M

Hey, I’m Zen_M, for many years I have been playing almost every ARPG starting with Diablo 1 and now I am super excited to continue my journey, now in Path of Exile 2. I mainly focus on figuring out the craziest currency strategies. Sometimes I try to find the best ways to make currencies but most of the time my goal is to find unexpected interactions and optimize unpopular strategies.

In Path of Exile 2 early access the build I am starting with is Cold Spells on Stormweaver. Why? Because freezing is op! Who needs defenses if your enemy cannot do anything? Frost Bomb applies Exposure so Scouring Winds from Stormweaver provides a lot of damage as 1st ascendancy node. Later on, you can Shock your enemies with cold damage thanks to the Shaper of Storms.

Spicysushi

Crafting my way through the Path of Exile 2 experience. I plan to follow Helm Breaker's build.

Enjoy!

If you're looking for someone to watch during the Path of Exile 2 early access, most of our team members are going to be streaming the game, writing guides, and making videos. Good luck, may your queue time be short and disconnects few.
