Catarina, Master of Undeath is the leader and Mastermind of the Immortal Syndicate. She was introduced during the War of the Atlas Expansion in Patch 3.5 Betrayal League. With the help of Jun Ortoi, you have to investigate the Immortal Syndicate, manipulate their ranks, reveal the identities of their members and uncover their safehouses to take down their mastermind.
Before you can take her on, you have to work your way trough the Immortal Syndicate. The Syndicate has four divisions, each with its own ambition: Fortification, Transportation, Research and Intervention. With the League Mechanic Betrayal active in your Map, you encounter members of the Immortal Syndicate. Upon investigating, you need to bargain, execute, interrogate or even induce them to betray each other to find out, who the leaders and the mastermind is. Once the Mastermind is revealed, you can open portals to the Mastermind's Lair and fight Catarina, Master of Undeath.

In addition to regular loot, Catarina, Master of Undeath has the following boss-specific drops:

Skills Breakdown
The Mastermind's Lair
Once you have fully investigated the Immortal Syndicate, you can open portals to the Mastermind's Lair by talking to Jun in your Hideout.
The Encounter is split in to 3 Phases:
- Phase 1 - The Forbidden Vault
- Phase 2 - The Unearthed Hideout
- Phase 3 - The Sculpture Garden
Phases
Once you enter the Portal to the Masterminds Lair, you find yourself inn the Forbidden Vault, where Catarina awaits you.
In the start, Catarina won't use her entire toolkit but proceeds to do so the further her HP drops. In Phase 1, she uses default melee attacks, soul mortar's and barrages and summons minions that aid her in battle. Once she lost a certain percentage of her HP, she becomes invulnerable and escapes.

Follow Catarina trough her Portal and fight your way trough the Unearthed Hideout. This Map-like Zone is filled with Monsters and rewards 200% additional Experience.
Once you reach the end of the zone, you find a portal to the Sculpture Garden where Phase 3 of the encounter begins.
This is the final and last phase, but also the hardest by far. You have to fight Catarina, her Syndicate Members, Monster and deal with invulnerability totems while also be aware of the centered totem at once.
She now uses her entire toolkit with quite some lethal abilities like the reaper slam. If you want to learn more about his abilities, make sure to check out the skills breakdown section.
The fight alternates between Boss Phase and Syndicate/Add Phase. Based on her HP-Pool, she becomes un-targetable and revive a Syndicate Member with a horde of Monsters. The goal is to defeat all of them to activate the invulnerability totem at the current corner. Once that is achieved, you have to stand next to the totem to soak its energy and destroy it, making Catarina vulnerable again. Make sure to watch out for the Shockwave the centered Totem releases into every corridor clock-wise.
This Totem Phase has to be repeated 4 times before you can finally kill the Mastermind and collect the treasures within the Vault.
Atlas Passive Tree
The newly revamped Atlas Passive Tree provides you with additional ways to speed up your progression towards safehouses and the mastermind, enhance the loot options of Syndicate encounters, upgrading their ranks and increase the chances of getting Jun Missions. Catarina herself gains no perks from the Atlas Passive Tree but can still be made more valuable due to upgrading the Leaders Safehouses.
