The Diablo Development Team just released Patch 1.5 Hotfix 1 on August 8th. This Hotfix deals primarily with correcting a Tempering exploit and correcting some funky business with The Umbracrux. For more information see the original post below followed by the Hotfix.
Temporarily Disabling The Umbracrux Unique Power
Hello all -
The team was made aware of an issue where players were able to obtain a significant amount of experience while killing certain bosses with ‘The Umbracrux’ unique equipped.
We will be disabling the unique power for this weapon while we work on a fix for this. This means players will no longer be able to spawn a shade totem with this weapon. Players can still find this weapon and can technically still equip it, but they will not be able to utilize the unique power while we have this disabled.
Once we have a finalized fix, we will re-enable this and communicate this out to players.

Bug Fixes
- Fixed an issue where Tempering certain Greater Affixes could lead to unlimited re-rolls.
- Fixed an issue where an extremely large amount of experience could be earned when a totem from the Umbracrux was present when completing certain boss encounters.
Developer Note: With the above change, we have re-enabled the Unique Power for the Umbracrux.
- Fixed an issue where Season Journey chapter completion caches opened by Sorcerers could contain Rogue-exclusive items.
- Fixed an issue where the Malignant Altar for Varshan didn’t always disappear when Varshan spawned, which would prevent successive summons of Varshan.
- Various stability improvements.
