Mother's Blessing Reignites
The Mother's Blessing event is coming back! Learn more here!
Rise, wanderer, and stand triumphant before your hoard of spoils—Mother’s Blessing has returned!
From August 20, 12 p.m.–August 27, 10 a.m. PT, all players will earn 35% experience and 50% Gold at a (multiplicative) increased rate. Lilith blesses all her children, as this bonus applies to both Seasonal and Eternal Realms, and all World Tiers. This bonus stacks, so pair it with Elixirs and the Urn of Aggression to maximize your experience gains while killing Monsters.
Hotfix 4 August 15th
Game Updates
- Aspect of Splintering Energy
- Damage increased from 25-50% to 50-80%.
- Splintering Energy will arc to additional enemies less frequently.
*NOTE: Tooltip descriptors for this will be changed in a upcoming update.
Developer Note: In rare instances, this aspect alongside Fractured Winterglass could cause detrimental server performance issues. To solve for this, we’re reducing the frequency of it arcing to additional enemies, and increasing its damage to compensate. Additionally, the amount of Frozen Orbs that can be launched from Conjurations while using Fractured Winterglass has been adjusted in these rare instances.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed an issue where Damage over Time effects could persist after the player died and revived.
- Various stability improvements.
Developer Note: The team is continuing our investigations around issues and player reports tied to trading. For now, trade will continue to be disabled and we will follow-up with updates. Thank you all for your patience.
What does this change do?
Overall effect of these changes and fixes is a small nerf to Lightning Spear Sorcerer:
- Damage against multiple clumped together enemies: heavily nerfed (about 3x), unless they die in one hit
- Damage against single targets: unchanged
- Damage against three targets (aka Fell Council): slightly nerfed (about 20%), or noticeabely nerfed (~50%) if they gather in one spot
Luckily, that "unless they die in one hit" clause is doing a lot of heavy lifting, because this build is so strong that small enemies die in one hit in pretty much every situation except high tier Pit and 4-player Tier 8 Infernal Hordes. This nerf results in 3-4 tiers lower clears in The Pit and isn't really noticeable elsewhere (aside from slightly longer Councill fight). Overall, Lightnig Spear stays firmly in the S-tier as unquestioned strongest Sorcerer build and probably the strongest build across all classes.
The part below is a speculation based on results of our testing. It's very hard to see what's going on with 40 Lightning Spears on the screen so we can't be sure.
The Fractured Winterglass nerf seem to be implemented by adding a limit to how often the effect can be triggered. This limit is farily hard to reach but it's still there. In rare cases it can affect you even if your average Frozen Orb production is way below it, because it can prevent lucky back-to-back procs. In practical terms, this means that you should put more emphasis on increasing the impact of each Frozen Orb proc, rather than increasing the amount of procs you can get per second.
Cooldown Reduction, Cooldown Reduction per Frozen Orb explosion, and Chance to cast Frozen Orb twice become slightly more important. Lucky Hit Chance and Chance to Launch a Frozen Orb on Lucky Hit become less important (RIP Fists of Fate).
