Here are the best Skill Gems & Passive Tree for the Maw of Mischief Elementalist build that including the Skill Tree Progression for Leveling, Midgame and Endgame.

Skill Gems

Gems are a fundamental part of your build, and getting the correct link setups and levels before entering Maps is your main goal. This is how your Gems look throughout the different stages of progression.

Spells scale very well from levels, so make sure to level Wave of Conviction before you need to use it!

Wave of Conviction Gem Setup

Your Main damage ability is Vaal Flameblast within your Vaal Caress. Aim this well, as you get only one use of it on map bosses. Your clearing ability is Wave of Conviction. Arcanist Brand is to be linked with Flame Surge and your curses to trigger when attached to the Map Boss. The last button to press is your Malevolence which linked to Divine Blessing Support and Inspiration Support causes your Aura to become temporary for a flat Mana cost, which becomes an Energy Shield cost because of Eldritch Battery. If you do not have enough Energy Shield to cast it, try to obtain a Shield and Body Armour that are Energy Shield bases.

Maw of Mischief Gem Setup

When to swap to Maw of Mischief? Here is where you swap to your Maw of Mischief setup. Your clear and bossing damage comes from Death Wish exploding your Minions at random. Put Summon Stone Golem, Minion Life Support and Empower Support all in your Shield to boost the Life of your Golem as much as possible.

To clear efficiently you need to use Convocation to teleport your Minions to you. Then you can tap Death Wish to explode any random Minion you have which should explode and proliferate your Ignites. If you do not yet have Berek's Respite you MUST use Ignite Proliferation Support instead of Infused Channelling Support.

End Game Gem Setup

Your final Gem setup gets a lot of damage from Awakened Gems and a Level 3 Empower Support to boost your damage high enough to delete all the bosses in the game. The end game Gem and gear setup is setup to cap your Suppression which is very tight on gear, but is extremely rewarding in the consistency of your defence now.

Skill Tree Progression

Large Stat Nodes can and should be picked up as you need them to level up your Skill Gems or equip gear, the final end game tree accounts for them so don't be afraid to spend a couple passive points picking up +30 Dexterity or Strength while progressing.

Cluster Jewel Sockets on the edge of the passive tree should only be allocated after you have acquired the jewels to socket within them. After socketing clusters ensure you allocate all points needed to fully unlock all jewel sockets and relevant notable passive nodes.

Maw of Mischief Swap

To play this build you need to have at least the Maw of Mischief. This item can be farmed through Cursed Words, a Divination Card found from Cemetery Map, Grave Trough Map or Graveyard Map.

You also need the following Items to make the swap comfortable and to ensure you have great damage:

  1. Invictus Solaris (if this version is expensive a Vix Lunaris or Magna Eclipsis works too)
    1. Empower Support at Level 1 should also be purchased and used in the Shield with your Summon Stone Golem
  2. The Scourge to allow increased Minion Damage to scale our damage at 150% effect.
  3. Lastly you want a Berek's Respite (should be obtained during the Wave of Conviction phase of the build). This is just to increase clear speed, so if you're going to head straight into bossing this can be skipped in favor of a Bone Ring.
  4. Unset Ring to put your Flame Dash in.
  5. SUPER DUPER IMPORTANT PLEASE DON'T SKIP THIS - You need to have the Jorgen Unveiled Suffix Craft Trigger Level 10 Summon Spectral Wolf on Kill to make clearing smooth and quick (and cool because Wolfs). Without this you will be stuck waiting for your Golems to respawn.
