Hollow Palm Smite Marauder Twink Leveling

Introduction

Leveling up new characters in order to play a 2nd or 3rd build can be time consuming and unenjoyable. This guide shaves several hours off your campaign run AND makes the experience thoroughly more enjoyable by drastically improving your character's quality of life, movement speed and damage.

The Hollow Palm Smite build utilizes the One With Nothing Jewel and Dexterity Stacking in to generate obscene levels of damage output from very early on in the campaign. The build is rounded out with a slew of other leveling items such as Tabula Rasa and Seven-League Step in order to consistently move as fast as possible.

Hollow Palm

Hollow Palm
The Hollow Palm Keystone
  • You count as Dual Wielding while you are Unencumbered.
  • 60% more Attack Speed while you are Unencumbered.
  • 14 to 20 Added Attack Physical Damage per 10 Dexterity while you are Unencumbered.

The Hollow Palm Keystone is allocated by inserting the One With Nothing Jewel into a Cluster Jewel Socket. Keep in mind that inserting the Jewel does not automatically grant the Hollow Palm effect; rather, it must still be allocated with a passive point.

The entire basis of this build is to stack Dexterity in order to take advantage of flat added damage values that are balanced around endgame content and are therefore quite overpowered when used against low level enemies.

WARNING: Once allocated, you must unequip your weapons & gloves in order to be considered 'Unencumbered'. Make sure Auto-Equip is turned off in order to prevent turning your damage off by accidentally picking up Gloves or Weapons.

How It Works

Prior to actually making your desired character, you are required to purchase all of the items listed below in the Preparation section and place them in a dedicated Stash Tab. These items can be broken into three categories:

  • Twink Gear - Reusable Gear and Flasks that can be used to twink level characters of all classes for the remainder of the league once purchased. Alternatively, this gear may be resold once you are done with it
  • Gems - These Gems are generally not reusable due to the fact that you will be leveling them up. Therefore each time you 'twink' level a character, you need to re-purchase these Gems
  • Orb of Regret - You need approximately 80x of these in order to refund ALL the points on your passive tree once you have finished leveling the character up and are ready to transition into your desired build

Once these items are purchased, you may then make your new character and work your way towards Lioneye's Watch. Here you are able to access the Stash and import all of these items from your Stash into your Inventory.

Throughout the leveling process, you DON'T need to pick up any items dropped on the ground at all. Simply focus on clearing the campaign as fast as possible while ignoring loot. This has the added advantage of making inventory management MUCH simpler due to not being clogged up with random Currency items and gear.

Upon finishing the campaign, you can either transition into your originally intended build, or you may keep leveling with Hollow Palm in the Blood Aqueducts until approximately Level 66. At Level 66, the EXP penalty within an Area Level 84 '5-way' Timeless Domain is only 54%, making it an ideal starting point for the power leveling process. We discuss this in more depth later on.

Build Stats

  • 50-75% Evasion (Depending on Act)
  • 200-240 HP per Act
  • Capped Elemental Resistances by Act 6
  • Chill/Freeze Immunity
  • 230% Movement Speed
  • 200-300k Boss DPS by Act 10

These stats don't include whichever benefits are gained from your chosen Ascendancy. Your Ascendancy choices should be based upon whatever build you intend to play once you have finished leveling up.

Note: This build is NOT Hardcore viable! Do NOT try to remedy this by taking unrecommended Life Nodes, respeccing into excess life nodes prevents Precise Technique from working, significantly reducing your damage output.

Ascendancy Choice

Your choice of Ascendancy should be decided based on the build you wish to transition to after the campaign.

Make sure you complete the Normal, Cruel and Merciless Labyrinths before you defeat Act 10 Kitava and incur the 60% resistance penalty.

Preparation (Gear/Gems/Flasks/Currency)

This section details precisely which items you need in your stash in order to start the 'twink' leveling process. We go into greater detail about these items in later sections, this is just a list.

Flasks

All Flasks listed here can have any Prefix modifier which increases duration, reduces charges used or increases charge recovery, however the Instilling Orb enchants and Suffix modifiers should match the recommendations.

When rolling your flasks with Orb of Alteration, the modifiers can occasionally roll at a higher level based on the item level of the flask. This raises the Level Requirement of the flasks making them unusable at the recommended levels; therefore, you should continue rolling the flasks until you hit lower level modifiers.

You can mouse over these Flasks below to see examples of what ideal Flasks look like.

  • Quicksilver Flask - "Used when Charges reach Full" enchantment + "Increased Movement Speed during Flask effect" suffix - Level 4
  • Bismuth Flask - "Used when you become Frozen" enchantment + "Immunity to Freeze and Chill during Flask effect" - Level 8
  • Quicksilver Flask - 2x - no enchantment/suffix
  • Sulphur Flask - "Used when Charges reach Full" enchantment + "Increased Attack Speed during Flask effect" suffix - Level 35
  • Silver Flask - "Used when Charges reach Full" enchantment + "Increased Evasion Rating during Flask effect" suffix - Level 40

Currency

Orb of Regret - x80 - Used to respec once you have finished leveling up

Skill/Support Gems

Use the slider below this graphic to view how your gems should transition throughout the campaign

Unlike most builds, the Skill & Support Gem setups in this build are incredibly simple as a result of the Hollow Palm keystone removing 10 Gem Sockets from the build.

Below we detail how these gems are used and why they are chosen.

Omissions & Alternatives

Many potential options have been omitted from these recommendations in order to avoid the need for 4x off-colour sockets. If you are able to obtain a Goldrim or Seven-League Step with 4x off-colour sockets, you can include Increased Duration Support in the 3 Link Helmet set up to prevent the need to recast Arcanist Brand against Bosses.

Alternatively, with 3x Red Sockets and 1x Blue Socket, you can use the following set up

Character Progression (Gear & Flasks)

Post-Campaign

Upon defeating Act 10 Kitava, you have a few options to consider before transitioning to your intended build:

  • Enter White Maps and progress your new build from scratch
  • Ask your friends to carry you through Breachstones until you are a high enough level to equip key items
  • Buy carries in various Community Discords in order to power level your character to Level 80-90 via '5-Ways'

We discuss these options in greater depth below along with the relevant EXP penalties that apply to each of these activities. If you need additional levels after finishing the campaign, you should farm the Blood Aqueducts in Act 9. Upon reaching the end, enter the town and go to the Waypoint, Ctrl-Right Click the Waypoint for the Blood Aqueducts and select the top option that says 'new'. This resets the zone, allowing you to infinitely farm the Blood Aqueducts until you reach whatever level you need to reach.

Recycling This Guide

This entire guide has been heavily homogenized in order to be applicable to other classes, so when you're finished using this guide, take ALL the gear and flasks off your character and deposit them into a dedicated Stash Tab so that you can reuse them on future builds and different characters.

Summary

  • Prepare the listed items in a dedicated tab
  • Withdraw them on your new character
  • Speedrun the campaign
  • Put the items back in the dedicated tab for future use with other characters
  • Use White Maps, Breachstones or The Timeless Domain to level up further
