After months of leaks and years of speculation, Blizzard has officially unveiled their Diablo 2 remaster project: Diablo 2: Resurrected.
Set to release in 2021 on PC, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation4, and Nintendo Switch, Diablo 2: Resurrected overhauls the visuals of Diablo 2 with full 3D physically-based rendering, dynamic lighting, revamped animations and spell effects in up to 4k resolution. All 27 minutes of cinematics will be completely remade from scratch with modern graphics, and all sound effects are remastered, with extra ambient sounds added for extra immersion.
Beneath the 3d surface, Diablo 2’s same old engine is running, along with all its familiar quirks. However, quality of life changes have been made, such as shared stash tabs and auto-gold pickup. Interested players can sign up for alpha testing at www.diablo2.com.
