Introduction

The Chaos build heavily focuses on large Area of Effect (AoE) skills with low Cooldowns to clear the content as fast as possible. This content isn't difficult and can easily be completed by spamming skills.

If you are running the Demonic Impulse Raid build then you can just stick with that for this content as well since that build already has good AoE coverage and damage scaling from Demonize mode.

The Combat Stats are not as important as they are for PvP or Raid builds. Simply use the recommended Raid gear and Combat Stat distribution from the Perfect Suppression Shadowhunter Raid Guide and Demonic Impulse Shadowhunter Raid Guide.

Chaos Dungeon Skill Build

  • Howl and Cruel Cutter are the main trash mob clearing skills. You need to line up mobs for Cruel Cutterto work well since it travels in a straight line. Cruel Cutter Tier 3 tripod can be swap to Encroachment Release for more damage and to help with Identity Gauge gain.
  • Thrust Impact, Decimate and Demonic Clone are good for bursting Elites and Bosses down, they also have decent frontal AoE damage.
  • Demon's Grip is a filler skill that can be used to finish off any left over mobs.
  • Demonic Slash and Sharpened Cut are use for general mobility to travel pack by packs quicker.

Gameplay

Chaos Dungeon is fairly easy to complete. A simplified rotation is used:

  1. If you don't have Perfect Suppression up use Demonize when it is available to burst with all the skills in Demonize mode.
  2. Howl can be use in the middle of the packs to keep them in place before bursting with other melee AoE skills.
  3. Lure mobs in a line while moving to the next spawn location and clear them with Cruel Cutter and Demon's Grip when they're aligned.
  4. You don't have to be conservative with Awakening skill usage since the Cooldown refresh and Cooldown Reduction buff from Elites, Bosses and Rift Cores work on Awakening skills as well.
  5. Killing Elites and Bosses grants a 40-100% Cooldown refresh while breaking Rift Cores grants 40% Cooldown Reduction buff.

Combat Stats

Sub-stat priority is not important, as the content is easy as long as the player is using matching Tier Gear and accessories.

Runes

Runes enhance Skills with extra bonuses. All Rune drops are account bound and have limited availability, so placement of Runes on the correct Skills is important. Below are the recommend parings. Check the Rune Guide for more details.

  • Cruel Cutter is often used from a distance and works well with Bleed to get some extra damage in.
  • Howl is paired with Wealth to generate more Identity Gauge.
  • Sharpened Cut is paired with Protection so that you can get yourself in the middle of the packs to use Howl and then burst with other skills after.

Summary

  • Utilize Demonize mode if you aren't using or don't have Perfect Suppression up.
  • Use Howl to keep Elites in place before bursting them down with Thrust Impact, Decimate and Demonic Clone.
  • Lure the mobs in a line while moving towards the next spawn location then clear them with Cruel Cutter and Demon's Grip.
  • Killing Elites, Bosses and breaking Rift Cores grant a Cooldown refresh or Cooldown Reduction buff.
  • Use an Awakening skill whenever a group of Elites are close together so the Awakening skill Cooldown can refresh and be ready to be use for the next packs. Killing Bosses refreshes Cooldown completely as well so you don't have to be too conservative with Awakening skill usage.
