Introduction
Welcome to LoD Tempest Rush Monk guide! Turns out having one skill with significantly stronger supporting legendaries than all the others pushes that one build to the top of all the leaderboards.
Compared to Set versions of this build, Legacy of Dreams is dead last in terms of damage, beaten even by the Inna's Mantra set. It does have a significantly stronger version that utilizes Shi Mizu's Haori, but it's quite difficult to execute. That one can compete with Patterns of Justice for the title of the second strongest Tempest Rush build, but stays couple of tiers behind Monkey King's Garb.
In terms of speed GRs nothing comes close to Patterns of Justice, and LoD is no exception. It is however, an excellent Nephalem Rift build: just throw in In-Geom and Dashing Strike and you're good to go. Follower changes in Season 23 allow every build to include Cain's Destiny and Sage's Journey which is especially useful for LoD builds.
A combination of smooth gameplay and devastating damage make this build a very fun and competitive. Let's dive in and learn what makes it so great!

Items
- Won Khim Lau gives 600% damage and causes Tempest Rush to cast Cyclone Strike.
- Cesar's Memento increases damage to enemies that are blinded, stunned or frozen by 800%.
- Balance gives 600% damage to Tempest Rush and 100% Critical Hit Chance if it hits 3 or less enemies (awesome for killing the Rift Guardian).
- Mantle of Channeling gives 25% multiplicative damage and 25% damage reduction.
- Lefebvre's Soliloquy gives 50% damage reduction and is activated by Won Khim Lau for free.
- Stone Gauntlets give 250% increased Armor with no downside thanks to Epiphany.
- The Laws of Seph provides the Spirit necessary to keep channeling Tempest Rush.
- Convention of Elements triples our damage thanks to its synergy with the Flurry rune.
- Obsidian Ring of the Zodiac lets us reset all our cooldowns.
- Squirt's Necklace provides between 20% and 100% increased damage thanks to Serenity.
- Stone of Jordan lets us use Lightning Damage roll on Won Khim Lau and also gives some Elemental and Elite damage.
- Hexing Pants of Mr. Yan provide 25% additive damage and Spirit generation.
Global Stat Priorities
Stack about 55% Cooldown Reduction to reset your Epiphany in time. One or two Resource Cost Reduction rolls help with Spirit management but they are not required. Get at least one Life per Hit roll (Weapons and Bracers) for recovery. Aim to get All Resistance on your Pants and Boots and Secondary Resistances for Harmony passive on all other pieces. Our offensive priorities are: Lightning Damage > Tempest Rush damage > Critical Hit Chance > Critical Hit Damage ~ Damage Range > Area Damage.

Concept
This is a Tempest Rush monk build and simply throwing in In-Geom and Dashing Strike is enough to turn it into a top tier Nephalem Rift build. We use Epiphany Insight and Leoric's Crown with Flawless Royal Topaz to resolve all our resource issues. Cyclone Strike Wall of Wind on the bar automatically procs Cesar's Memento for us. We change the Tempest Rush rune to Electric Field for extra AoE. Finally we finish off the build with a bunch of movement speed and the standard T16 Gold package: Goldwrap, Boon of the Hoarder, Avarice Band.
Gameplay
The idea here is to fly as fast as possible from elite to elite, channeling Tempest Rush all the time. If we consistently kill elites and keep our In-geom up, we'll be able to spam our abilities permanently. You can use Dashing Strike to quickly move forward to find elites and move through bad maps.
- Spam Epiphany and Breath of Heaven.
- Cast Mantra of Healing every 2.5 seconds to protect your Squirt's Necklace buff.
- Hold down Tempest Rush to annihilate everything in sight!
Setups
When playing in groups, you need to cube Nemesis Bracers and replace Convention of Elements with Avarice Band. If you have enough damage, you can drop Bane of the Trapped for Molten Wildebeest's Gizzard. This lets your mantra finger relax a bit and you also gain 30% Movement Speed from Mantra of Conviction Annihilation.
Select Build Version
Concept
In pushing build we take every little bit of damage we can get. The Witching Hour is the best belt as it has 7% Attack Speed and 50% Critical Hit Damage. Ice Climbers help us in case of Epiphany downtime and also come with free 10% reduced Cold damage. Tyrael's Might is used for 20% damage to Demons (there's a lot of demons in this Diablo game, you'd be surprised). Pig Sticker is the best choice for our second weapon because of extra primary affix and damage to Beasts and Humans.
Gameplay
Your damage rotation is described in detail in the section above. Look for an open map, create a big pack of monsters and slowly drag it through the rift by teleporting your follower forward after every rotation. Be careful when running ahead and not hitting any monsters! You don't get any Obsidian Ring of the Zodiac procs and risk losing Epiphany or running out of Spirit!
You need to be extra careful when taking a Speed Pylon. With more Attack Speed you drain Spirit much faster so you need to use Blinding Flash more often. Additionally you can lose your Flurry stacks if you move your mouse cursor too close to your character. Keep it at least 10 yards away at all times! If you are not confident in your ability to pull this off, skip the Pylon. It only gives about 18% DPS, so failing just one rotation out of 6 will end up being a net loss.
Setups
If you have less than 5 secondary resistance rolls, use The Guardian's Path instead of Harmony. If you cannot find a good Pig Sticker, Gift of Silaria or Odyn Son can be a suitable replacement.
If you are lacking survivability, change Pig Sticker for The Burning Axe of Sankis for 35% damage reduction. Another option here is using Unity instead of Stone of Jordan (don't forget to change your Elemental rolls to Cold).
At very high Paragon (4,000+) levels you can drop Harmony for Relentless Assault for more damage.
Concept
This is the strongest version of the build that uses Shi Mizu's Haori to get 100% Critical Hit chance. Irontoe Mudsputters work very well with this item giving us free Movement Speed. Mantra of Healing Time of Need gives us 30% damage reduction and the active effect lets us "heal" without regaining health and keep the Crit Chance buff.
We also need to change our stats for this build. Drop all Critical Hit Chance and get Area Damage, Dexterity and defensive stats in its place. Then get rid of all Life per Hit and Life per Second (including removing them from Paragon). Now we need new recovery stats: Life per Kill and Health Globe Bonus. You should always have Life per Kill on your Belt and Pants and Health Globes on your Boots and Chest. Finally, put enough Paragon points into Vitality to have around 1 million health. Without it passive Life Regen from Mantra of Healing will constantly get you out of Shi Mizu's Haori range.
Gameplay
With this variant you have another thing to do on every rotation: getting into Shi Mizu's Haori range. At the end of Convention of Elements Lightning cycle (or middle of Physical depending on your HP) go in and start taking damage. After reaching low health and getting into Shi Mizu's Haori range, immediately use Serenity. Be aware that the screen flashes red when you reach 30% HP but Shi Mizu's Haori won't activate until you are at least below 25%. On top of that there's also Life Regen from Mantra of Healing so you need to go to 20% to keep the Crit Chance buff at the end of Serenity. It's helpful to focus on the UI health globe's demon's nose tip, which roughly marks the 25% HP threshold. In close cases, you can also take a quick peek at your inventory to see if your sheet DPS is boosted or not.
At the end of Serenity you should be on Cold and have 2 Squirt's Necklace stacks. That's when you release Tempest Rush and your Life per Kill should restore almost all of your HP. If you fail to kill a lot of monsters, drink a potion. From this point you do the Mythic Rhythm setup and continue normally.
Keep in mind that your recovery no longer happens automatically. You need to manually activate Mantra of Healing when you can't dodge all the incoming damage to prevent your health from running low before it's time for your nuke. To conserve Spirit only use this when you are below 50% life, where Time of Need makes your shields more efficient.
During the Rift Guardian fight you don't need to do any of this because Balance gives you 100% Crit Chance anyway. You can even put Life per Hit and Life per Second back in Paragon while the Rift Guardian is spawning.
Setups
At very high Paragon (6,000+) and with optimized gear (150k+ Health Globes) you can attempt to build more than 2 Squirts Necklace stacks before your Flurry explosions. For that switch The Guardian's Path to Chant of Resonance and do the Shi Mizu's Haori setup 4 seconds earlier: at the end of Holy. Instead of using Serenity start spamming Mantra of Healing and get out of the pull. If your shield is not broken you will have 4-5 Squirt's Necklace stacks by the end of Physical. Activate Serenity and go back in, then release your nuke 4 seconds later.
